We loved showing up this weekend in solidarity with our Qaravan family for Brighton Beach Pride! On the day before Pride month began (erev Pride) we walked on the boardwalk to chant and march with wonderful LGBTQ+ immigrants from Russia, Chechnya, Ukraine, and more.

So many of them fled from countries where their identities were criminalized - and now many are afraid to show up publicly because of the ways immigrants are under attack in this country. We’re grateful that CBST’s Senior Rabbi Emerita Sharon Kleinbaum and Rebbetzin Emerita Randi Weingarten both spoke about this as featured speakers! We will always show up in support of LGBTQ+ immigrants seeking a place where their rights are protected, loudly and proudly.

We've been horrified by the news of the deadly attack at the Islamic Center in San Diego. As their Imam Taha Hassane said today, "The other mosques and all the places of worship in our beautiful city should always be protected.”

May those who lost loved ones today be comforted, and may those injured know a full healing.

The victims include a security guard and two school staffers, Imam Taha Hassane told MS NOW. Police are investigating the shooting as a hate crime.

AIDS Walk New York is today! And what a gorgeous day!

For those who can join us, CBST will meet just south of the Naumberg Bandshell, lined up with the organizations starting with C. Look for CBST Board member Kevin Fyfe by 10:00am with the rainbow umbrella. (And don't forget water and sunscreen)

For those who can't join us, please consider making a donation to Team CBST to honor those we've lost and support those living with HIV & AIDS today at https://gmhc.donordrive.com/teams/5247.

As the world’s first HIV/AIDS service organization, GMHC is working to end the AIDS epidemic and uplift the lives of all affected.
