We will sing Solemn Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of beloved parishioner Nevin Brown on Saturday, 13 September 2025, at 10:30 AM.
Music was such an important part of Nevin’s life, and he was a loyal and steadfast supporter of not only the music at Saint Ignatius, but of several other groups. As a fitting tribute to Nevin, the Choir of Saint Ignatius of Antioch under the direction of organist and choirmaster Dr Gwendolyn Toth, will offer the music of the requiem and sing Thomas Luis de Victoria’s 1605 Missa pro defunctis for six voices, along with the Latin minor propers, including the requiem sequence, Dies irae.
Nevin Brown died on 15 June 2025 at Siena. His funeral took place in Siena on Friday, 4 July at the chapel of the Hospital of Siena, and his remains have been laid to rest at the Cemetery of Vignano on a hilltop overlooking Siena and its countryside, as was his wish. A memorial service was held for him at Saint James’s Church in Florence, where he worshipped. We always loved so much Nevin’s visits back to New York, and I can picture him sitting in the middle of the congregation on the north side.
