Youth For Christ NYC

Youth For Christ NYC Raising and transforming NYC's unlikely youth into leaders and lifelong followers of Christ. We see potential and purpose in unlikely kids.

Youth For Christ NYC works alongside youth between the ages of 11-19, mentoring, empowering and equipping them with the necessary skills to become leaders in their community and lifelong followers of Christ.

We just finished graduating our very first NYC City Life Cohort. Each youth pastor we walked alongside in our cohort came from different backgrounds, geography, and ministry contexts. We wanted to celebrate and highlight the unique stories each one of them carries, while also finding a way to encourage other youth leaders in our city. So, we created a book that captures all of that.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step.

Tonight we started a year-long journey together with the NEW NYC City Life Cohort. We took our first step together by attending a PRS gathering and listened to scripture together.

Last week we were able to put down an important stone or Ebenezer moment to mark a special night in which we were able to look back in gratitude and reflect on how the Lord was with us this past year.

We are thrilled to say that we were able to graduate and commission our very first NYC City Life Cohort. 👏👏👏

Here are some highlights of our journey:

✨10 Youth Leaders from different boroughs across NYC committed to this cohort
✨They completed 12 YFC online Modules and participated in 12 In-Person cohorts together with NYC Trainers/facilitators
✨Collectively we have surpassed our goal of meeting 150 NEW students from our neighborhoods and have reached 183 students together.
✨They have done outreaches in their neighborhoods along with facilitating PRS (public reading of scripture) in their youth ministries across NYC this past year.

I (Erica) highlighted Mark 2 (the story of the friends breaking through the roof for their paralyzed friend) as the focus for what we were trying to do this past year together.

I am happy to say last Thursday we commissioned some “roof breakers.” Youth leaders who would break through the roof for teens across our city, leaders that will do whatever it takes to get kids to the feet of Jesus.

What a privilege it has been to lead and walk alongside these youth leaders in these efforts.

Congrats to these amazing world changers! 🎉

God has been doing some amazing things so far in 2026, and we truly believe prayer has been at the forefront of it all.

This week, we’re inviting our community to join us as we gather outside the facilities we serve in across New York City to pray for incarcerated and transitioning young people, their families, facility staff, leadership, and for the ministry that takes place inside these walls every single week.

We believe God sees every young person, every story, and every hall - and we’re praying for hope, healing, peace, protection, transformation, and revival in each space.

Whether you can join us for one night, all three, or can be praying from home - we’d love to stand together in faith with you.

05.12 — Crossroads Juvenile Center
05.13 — The Children’s Center
05.14 — Horizon Juvenile Center

6:30PM each night.

‘The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’ — James 5:16

Every time our cohort gathers, we spend time praying for our teens by name. This was our City Life Cohort Director, Erica Lara closing out that time during our final cohort on Tuesday.

Words of wisdom from Ralph Castillo during our last City Life Cohort. It so important as leaders to learn rhythms that will keep us healthy and keep us sustainable in youth ministry. We must stay connected to Jesus.

Last night, we brought in our closer, none other than Ralph Castillo, to wrap up our final cohort of this year long journey. He spoke to us about Sustainability in Youth Ministry.

Such a powerful night together and a great way to wrap up our year together as a cohort. We learned best practices like implementing a Rule of Life to help us stay in this work for the long game.

Abiding in Jesus is the only way to see fruit in our lives. Grateful for the wisdom that was dropped to close out this first cycle. What a gift.

We would love to take a moment to introduce you to the April trainer for our YFC City Life Cohort. This month we get to hear from our good friend, Ralph Castillo.

He will be closing out our first cohort cycle. We are so excited to have him share with us his insights on sustainable ministry in an urban context.

We are excited to be learn what it looks like to be youth leaders that stay in it for the long game. This is so important to the work we do.

So excited to have Ralph teaching us this month!

Please join us in celebrating 12 young people in detention centers this week who made decisions to follow Jesus and were baptized on Monday and Tuesday in front of their peers and families.

The youth we serve inside detention face immense challenges—often including abandonment, loneliness, and constant disappointment. The opportunity to walk alongside them, and share the love of Christ, is already such an honor.

To witness them find freedom in Christ in places like this—especially during Holy Week is nothing short of a miracle!
