Statement from Bethelite Institutional Baptist Church

During Black History Month, Bethelite Institutional Baptist Church denounces the racist and disrespectful post circulated by President Donald Trump and his administration targeting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

As a church rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we affirm the God-given dignity of every person. Racism, mockery, and dehumanization—especially when directed at Black leaders who have served this nation with distinction—are incompatible with Christian faith, moral leadership, and the values of justice and love we proclaim.

Black History Month is a sacred time to honor the resilience, contributions, and humanity of Black people in the face of centuries of oppression. To use this moment to demean, belittle, or traffic in racial hostility dishonors not only the individuals targeted, but the broader struggle for equality and respect.

We stand firmly against racism in all its forms. We stand for truth, dignity, and the sacred worth of Black lives. And we reaffirm our commitment to building a community—and a nation—rooted in justice, humility, and love.
