Metropolitan New York Baptist Association Votes Unanimously to Sell Historic Property to North American Mission Board
**New York, NY – April 5, 2025** — The Metropolitan New York Baptist Association (MNYBA) is pleased to announce that it has voted unanimously to move forward with the sale of its longtime headquarters at 236 West 72nd Street to the North American Mission Board (NAMB).
This significant and prayerfully considered decision marks a new chapter in the association’s ongoing mission to build stronger churches for the good of our city.
The decision follows months of discernment, planning, and dialogue with leaders across the MNYBA network and with trusted partners at NAMB. The sale now moves into the contract phase, after which it will be submitted for approval to the New York State Attorney General. Upon final approval, the property will officially transfer ownership to NAMB.
“This is more than a real estate transaction,” said Larry Mayberry, Executive Director of MNYBA. “It’s a strategic investment in the future of gospel ministry in New York City. We believe God is calling us to steward our resources in a way that cares for church leaders, facilitates collaborative relationships among our diverse member churches and helps us plant new churches and nourish existing ones.”
NAMB plans to continue using the building as a hub for ministry, and MNYBA will maintain a small office presence in the space, allowing for ongoing collaboration and regional impact.
“This building has been a hub for us for decades,” said Timothy Widjaja, Queens Regional Coordinator. “This new vision will help us do ministry in a more broad and effective way than ever before.”
