It’s with a heavy heart that we share the transitioning of “The Auntie,” Janice Vismale — my second mom and a true light to everyone who knew her. She lived her life with love, grace, and faith, always showing up for family, church, and community events.💛

A Celebration of Janice’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11 AM to 1PM at Williams Funeral Home, 5628 Broadway, Bronx, NY.

We regret to announce the passing of one of the Patriarchs of our congregation, Mr. Darius Vismale. He passed away on Wednesday November 15th at the age of 100! We were so blessed to have him as a faithful member of our congregation.

We do not have details regarding his funeral services yet. However, when we do have the information, we will share it on this page.

Please continue to pray for his daughter, Valerie Vismale and all of the members of the Vismale family! We will miss Mr. Vismale so much! May he rest in God's eternal peace.

Friends and family of Transfiguration Lutheran Church (also known as The Christ Center at Transfiguration), our own Shirley Williams Myrie was honored at NYC City Hall today for being the oldest NYC employee. She started working 70 years ago! WOW! And she will be featured in a story on ABC News in NYC later today. Once the story is televised, I will post it here. Miss Shirley is 87 years young! We love you Miss Shirley!

Happy and blessed birthday to the Shepherd and Prayer Warrior who leads our congregation with grace, love, faith, and endless support! We are so extremely blessed and grateful for your leadership and your never-ending faith. You have led our congregation through so many hard times and you ALWAYS show up for us. Thank you for being you and showing us what it is to be a dedicated Christian. We love you Pastor Perucy Butiku ! Happy happy birthday!
