Agam Berger was kidnapped from the Nahal Oz military outpost on October 7th, 2023. She was held captive for 483 days. Her release was celebrated throughout the world. Agam says she never lost faith during the ordeal. We got to see her commitment firsthand when she recited Birchat Hamazon - Grace After Meals - following dinner Friday night dinner at Chabad of Midtown. It took her 20 minutes to complete the prayer. Now that is gratitude. And we are grateful to have been witness to that devotion.

We love that this song is sung but one of our own ( Shulem ) and that it was written by one of our own (Irving Berlin - A New Yorker!). We also love this giant flag as seen from the windows of Chabad of Midtown on Fifth Avenue - held aloft by the hands of many humans. Furthermore, we love that we get to greet our brothers and sisters from all over the world, at the center of the city which has always been a gateway for Jews seeking shelter in America...and that America has been an ally to ancient homeland, Israel, which we, of course, love.

It so happens that Chabad of Midtown's Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger comes from a family that emigrated to the Lower East Side over a hundred years ago...making it more than a century of Metzgers in Manhattan. We are grateful for the haven we have found in America and hope to pay it forward to those who stop by.

One more thing. We love that July 4th falls out on Shabbat. A double celebration.

God bless America 🇺🇸 and Shabbat Shalom from the USA.

❤️ Lots of love ❤️

It's the 17th of Tammuz, a fast day that commemorates the breach of Jerusalem's walls by the Romans, an event that ultimately led to the destruction of the Holy Temple.

For millennia, countless empires have risen with the goal of destroying the Jewish people. We are still here, B"H. But our mission is not merely to survive. It is to thrive. To live more Jewishly. Once again, history has shown that those who seek to destroy us will ultimately fade into the past while the Jewish people live on.

Please join us at Chabad of Midtown for special fast day prayers and Torah readings:

Shacharit 7:45am
Mincha 1:45pm
2nd Mincha 6:45pm
Followed by Maariv 7:00pm

May days of sadness turn to ones of joy speedily in our time.
