Neighborhood Church is a Christian community whose members come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. Now, however, by the grace of God we share together the common bond of faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By striving, since 1973, to maintain a consistent gospel witness in one of the most famous and interesting neighborhoods in the world, we seek to encourage others to e

mbrace with faith the truths of the Bible in order that they too might know the freedom that Jesus promises: "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."

This week’s prayer for the persecuted church is for Iran & Ukraine:

• Many believers have left Iran and await approval of their asylum applications in neighboring countries, but often their funds are running out. Continue to pray for them as they await the future with uncertainty.

• Please keep our precious brothers and sisters in Ukraine in prayer, that they bear faithful witness to their neighbors and to their people amid the current chaos. Pray that the church remains strong and vibrant in their unity, especially at this time. Ephesians 4:3.

Please stand with these dear brothers and sisters in prayer. Let us not forget them, but be faithful in lifting up their needs in prayer to our heavenly Father, and that our God might strengthen them.

This week’s prayer for the persecuted church is for Africa & specifically Burkina Faso:

• Some areas are so violent that there are no churches in existence anymore. Lift up those believers who had to flee their homes to escape death and injury and for those who have lost loved ones.

• In other parts of Africa persecutors bully Christians to renounce their faith or leave an area that radical militants want to control. Sexual violence against the very young and even the very old occurs regularly. Pray for the victims of these horrific crimes and for their emotional, physical and spiritual healing.

Please stand with these dear brothers and sisters in prayer. Let us not forget them, but be faithful in lifting up their needs in prayer to our heavenly Father, and that our God might strengthen them.

This week’s prayer for the persecuted church is for Afghanistan & Nigeria:

• Many secret believers chose to stay in Afghanistan to be salt and light in their homeland. Pray for their protection and for God to bring people to them who want to know him. These Christians have three choices: to return to Islam, to leave the country, or to prepare for increased persecution. Please intercede for them.
• A pastor named Ali was ambushed and killed by Fulani militants. The next day a village was attacked and at least ten church members were killed. Pray for the attackers, that the Holy Spirit will bring conviction and not let their hearts to rest until they repent.

Please stand with these dear brothers and sisters in prayer. Let us not forget them, but be faithful in lifting up their needs in prayer to our heavenly Father, and that our God might strengthen them.

🚨🚨 Email update from Nick 🚨🚨

Good afternoon, Neighborhood Church!

As we announced this past Sunday during service, we will be taking part in a special joint Good Friday service on Friday, April 15th at 7:30pm. The service will be held at Calvary-St. George church in Manhattan (21st Street & Park Avenue), and we will be joined by several other churches (including Bronx Household of Faith, Messiah's Reformed Fellowship, and Grace Reformed Church of Jersey City).

We would love to have all of you join us on Good Friday, and I would also encourage you to consider inviting a friend to tag along for this special service. Please RSVP to me in the coming week or so if you plan on attending, so that we can get a rough head count of how many folks we should expect.

Two other quick notes:

*This coming Sunday, March 13th is Daylight Savings--be sure to change your clocks Saturday evening so that you show up to church (in our building @269 Bleecker Street this week) on time!

*Tomorrow night for our Wednesday evening Bible study (7:30pm) we'll be reading pages 25-36 ("A Category-Defying Social Vision") in Tim Keller's "How to Reach the West Again.”

Nick

Correction! We will be having service in person at our building located at 269 Bleecker St on this coming Sunday!

This week’s prayer for the persecuted church is for Democratic Republic of Congo:

Villagers have experienced waves of attacks, with a number of Christians being killed or taken hostage. Homes and churches have been burned. Attacks have targeted pastors and leaders in particular. Pray for wisdom and grace for pastors and for churches who minister to the displaced, the bereaved and to traumatized brothers and sisters in Christ.

Please stand with these dear brothers and sisters in prayer. Let us not forget them, but be faithful in lifting up their needs in prayer to our heavenly Father, and that our God might strengthen them.
