THE PURPOSE OF THE CROSS

‎Destroying the Devil’s Works

‎“The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”
‎- 1 John 3:8

‎I. The Reality We Confront

‎The Devil’s Destructive Works

‎Scripture clearly identifies the origin of sin and rebellion, the devil. His “works” are the systems and activities that oppose God’s nature and purposes: deception and lies, accusation and condemnation, bo***ge and fear, sickness and oppression, and every form of evil that fractures God’s creation and alienates humanity from Him. To grasp the depth of Christ’s mission, we must first acknowledge the reality of what He came to dismantle.

‎Jesus Himself exposed the devil’s agenda:

‎“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.”
‎John 10:10

‎II. The Victory We Proclaim
‎Christ’s Authoritative Destruction

‎Jesus did not come merely to oppose the devil’s works. He came to destroy them. This destruction is decisive, complete, and authoritative. Through His incarnation, sinless life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection, Jesus launched a total assault on Satan’s kingdom, breaking its power and liberating its captives.

‎By divine revelation, the Apostle Paul declared:

‎“When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.”
‎Colossians 2:15

‎Beloved, 1 John 3:8 is not a spotlight on the devil’s power, but a proclamation of Christ’s superior purpose and finished victory. The cross was the strategic blow that shattered the machinery of hell. Every chain of addiction, every lie about your identity, every stronghold of fear, and every grip of sin qualifies as a “work of the devil” and Jesus appeared to destroy them all.

‎Our calling, therefore, is not to beg God for a victory already won, but to live from that victory. You are not fighting for triumph; you are fighting from triumph. As you align your faith with Christ’s finished work, you are empowered to enforce the freedom He purchased for you.

‎Prayer

‎Father, I thank You for sending Jesus to destroy every work of the devil. Enlighten the eyes of my heart to see and walk in the fullness of His finished victory. Let every form of bo***ge, fear, sickness, sin, and oppression lose its hold in my life. I receive and enforce the liberty purchased by the cross, and I live today in the power of Christ’s triumph. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

‎Declaration

‎I boldly declare: Jesus Christ appeared to destroy the works of the devil. Therefore, every chain is broken, every lie is silenced, and every stronghold is dismantled in my life. I walk today in freedom, authority, and victory through the finished work of the cross. Amen.🙏

EMBRACING THE UNSEEN LEADERSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

‎“The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
‎- John 3:8

‎In His conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus unveils the mystery of the new birth through the imagery of the wind. The Holy Spirit moves with sovereign freedom unseen, uncontrollable, yet undeniably real. Just as we do not command the wind, we cannot dictate the movement of the Spirit. Our calling is not to understand every detail of His workings, but to respond with faith, sensitivity, and obedience.

‎The Spirit’s movement is sovereign. He operates according to the Father’s will, not human preference. True spiritual life begins when we relinquish control and acknowledge His authority. As seen in Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones, when God speaks and the Spirit breathes, lifeless places are revived and mobilized for divine purpose. What looks impossible can become an exceeding great army when the breath of God is released.

‎Though His movement is mysterious, His presence produces evidence. Jesus said we would hear His sound. That sound is revealed through transformed lives, the inner witness of truth, the fruit of righteousness, and the manifestation of spiritual gifts. At Pentecost, the Spirit announced His arrival with a sound from heaven, filling ordinary believers with extraordinary power. When the Spirit moves, heaven’s activity is made known on earth.

‎This sovereign and audible movement leads to personal transformation. Everyone who is born of the Spirit becomes directed by a power beyond themselves. Our lives are no longer self-governed but Spirit-led. As Scripture affirms, those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. The evidence of spiritual sonship is not perfection, but direction being continually guided by the unseen Wind.

‎Jesus invites us into a life of faith rather than formula. We are not called to harness the wind, but to raise our sails. Security is not found in controlling outcomes, but in trusting the One who leads us. As we learn to recognize His sound and yield to His direction, we embrace the beautiful mystery of a Spirit-born life.

‎Prayer

‎Father, we thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We repent of every desire to control or predict Your movement. Train our hearts to discern Your voice and our ears to recognize Your sound. Breathe new life into every dry place within us and align us fully with Your will. Teach us to trust Your unseen leadership and to walk confidently in obedience as Your children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

‎Declaration

‎I am born of the Spirit of God. I embrace His sovereign movement in my life. I listen for His sound, yield to His direction, and release my need for control. The Wind of Heaven orders my steps, defines my purpose, and leads me into God’s destiny. I am led by the Spirit, and I am a child of God.
