Of Water and Spirit is the author’s life journey through shamanistic lens of his African roots and forced European indoctrination at a young age. The book has solidified in me the importance of honoring ancestral spirits and rooted traditions, but also that the connection to our birthplace and Mother Earth herself can never be severed.

“Practical Psychomancy and Crystal Gazing” & “Practical Mental Influence and Mental Fascination” by William Walker Atkinson

The texts by William Walker Atkinson delve into personal passions of mine. Practical Psychometry and crystal gazing explores theory and practical techniques to further develop my own psychic skills. Currently I am working with a black Scrying mirror and hope this text gives deeper insight into the practice as a whole. Practical Mental Influence..discusses practices associated with practices of the mind dealing with vibrations, influencing, the astral, and even some mental defenses.

Here’s what the witches of Coven of the Second Star are reading this week!

“The Black Pullet” by Unknown

The Black Pullet is a well known for its mysterious origins and unknown author, and it’s collection of magical talismans and rings, but it also makes for an interesting read for the story the author tells of how these talismans were given to him.

I picked this book up this week to read it from the very beginning. The first almost half, and the back couple dozen or so pages outline an almost charming narrative of the author, a defector of Napoleon’s army, and the developing relationship with a wise old man that saved his life after the Frenchman was attacked and left for dead in front of the Great Pyramid of Giza (presumably).

Welcome to Coven of the Second Star’s page. We are a coven of witches based in NYC. I am Coven Leader and High Priest of this coven. We are initiated in the Gala Tradition of Witchcraft.

My name is Nick. From a young age I found my self guided in different directions, studying various areas of the Occult. 3 years ago I found Gala, and the love and community it provided helped me to grow and better myself in a more meaningful way than I had been able to find before. I was able to mine new depths of my own power, and build a life I was joyful to live in.

I am so truly grateful for the love I have with my Gala brothers. This coven is meant to be a place for other gay male witches out there who might be seeking a more elevated understanding of themselves, the world around them, their magickal practice, and who are looking for a bond with people like themselves like nothing else they’ve ever experienced.

On this page you can feel free to post and discuss anything on your mind. Please also introduce yourself if you feel so inclined.
