India Couture Week 2026 saw designers reshape familiar codes through sculpted draping, exaggerated panniers, cropped proportions, artisanal texture and sharp tailoring. Featherwork, fringe, embroidery and dimensional construction gave the collections movement and depth.
For me, Anamika Khannaās Moonlit Palace marked the strongest moment of the week. Khanna pushed Indian couture into less familiar territory, replacing expected bridal silhouettes with sculpted panniers, precise tailoring, black jodhpurs and layers of translucent tulle. Victorian influences met the craft traditions of Barmer and the visual language of Kalighat through lace, metallic embroidery and intricate handwork. The result was imaginative and avant-garde, yet deeply connected to its Indian roots.
