SAVE THE DATE: HALF-DAY COURSE WITH KADAM MORTEN:

UNDERSTANDING MAHAMUDRA, THE QUICK PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT
SATURDAY, MAY 9 at KMC NYC

This course is recommended for everyone, especially those wishing to attend this year's Summer Festival and receive Highest Yoga Ta**ra empowerments of Heruka and Vajrayogini.

The essence of Buddha’s Ta***ic teachings is the training in Mahamudra, which means the union of bliss and emptiness. These are the very highest of Buddha’s teachings and are exceedingly profound, delightful, and eminently practical.

In this half-day course, Kadam Morten will explain Mahamudra, showing how it represents the perfect integration of all the practices we learn here at our Center. He will also show how to begin incorporating Mahamudra into our own meditation practice.

Saturday, April 11 at KMC NYC
Join Special Guest Teacher Gen Samten Kelsang for his Half-day Course:

The Life of a Bodhisattva
Being a Friend to the World

From the moment you wake up in the morning to the moment you go to sleep at night, you have one thing you want to do above all else. That thing is: to help all living beings find the supreme joy of enlightenment. In order to pull this off, you yourself need to attain enlightenment as well.

Question: Who and what are you?

You are a bodhisattva – a friend to the world – bound for enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings without exception. In this 1/2 day course, visiting teacher Gen Samten Kelsang – the resident teacher of the World Peace Temple located just a few hours north of the city – will share with us some of the hallmarks of the Bodhisattva’s way of living. The path of a Bodhisattva is steeped in joy, steeped in compassion and steeped in deep meaning. The world needs more Bodhisattvas. Right now.

Everyone welcome.

HALF-DAY COURSE THIS SATURDAY WITH MICHELLE VALLADARES
Swift Wisdom, Swift Action
An Introduction to Green Tara Practice

We live in busy times where problems, fears and troubles seem to arise each day and for many it is challenging to find solutions. Green Tara is a female Buddha of compassion and wisdom who is committed to helping living beings. She has her right foot extended so that she can swiftly come to the aid of those who rely upon her. In this introductory workshop we will explore the practice of Green Tara and draw closer to her. She is also known as the “Protector Tara” or “Mother Tara.” She cares for living beings like a mother cares for her dearest child.

Everybody welcome!

Half-day Course this Saturday: the 35 Confession Buddhas Practice, with Julia Strohm

This half-day event consists of two sessions with the second one including a Q&A.

In these two sessions we will learn about – and practice – a beautiful purification ritual that helps clear away difficulties in developing faith and conviction in Dharma and in making progress on the stages of the path to enlightenment. As with all purification practices, it also prevents our future suffering by purifying the negativity that comes from our past non-virtuous actions (i.e., negative karma).

Using recorded prayers as our guide, we will engage in three types of traditional practices: prostration, purification and dedication. The centerpiece of the practice entails visualizing the Thirty-five Confession Buddhas and practicing purification in their presence.

A brief explanation of the practice and its purpose will be given, but the emphasis in both sessions will be on engaging in lightly guided meditation with prayers and prostrations. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.

Note: the practice is suitable for all physical abilities

Half-day Course this Saturday with Special Guest, Kadam Donna!

FREEDOM FROM INSECURITY

We all know what it feels like to be insecure. But do we know that it is possible to become completely free from insecurity? It is! Those feelings of insecurity do not reflect our actual nature. The practice of Buddhist meditation enables us to experience directly our pure nature for what it is: limitless potential.

In this course, through talks and guided meditations, we will develop this empowering insight so that we can easily let go of our limiting self-conceptions, freeing us to become the confident and joyful person we wish to be.

Everybody welcome!

Kadam Donna Campanelli is the Resident Teacher at Vajra Light Kadampa Buddhist Center in Mamaroneck NY. She has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism for over 30 years and is a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. She is a wonderful example of Modern Buddhism – Dharma integrated into daily life. With skill and enthusiasm, humor and kindness, Kadam Donna shows her students how to transform day-to-day difficulties into a meaningful life.
