At Bible Sturdy, we use chess to help connect biblical principles to real life. Chess teaches patience, discipline, wisdom, and the importance of thinking ahead before making a move. In the same way, God calls us to live with wisdom, self-control, and purpose. What happens on the chessboard becomes a lesson in how to move through life.

Pull up every other Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for youth ages 8–17. Lunch and snacks are provided, and we’d love to have you join us.

Bible Sturdy is where faith meets strategy and strength — bringing young people together through chess, basketball, and real talk Bible study in a positive, uplifting space designed to build confidence, character, and community.

Starts Saturday, May 2, 2026
Ages 8–21
Historic First COGIC

This program is free, but registration is required. Please note that initial spots are being held for youth connected through Historic First Church.

The NAACP Brooklyn Branch will also be sharing this opportunity with its 1,300+ members across Brooklyn and with the 8 NYC area branches.
