GUMC @ 40 - CELEBRATING THE GOODNESS OF GOD; LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS GLORY Ps. 145: 1- 11 (7,11)
Daily devotional message from Rev. Dr. Samuel Acquaah Arhin - 9/28/2026
Psalm 103:2–3 — “Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
In the above text forgiveness is mentioned first to demonstrate the connection between spiritual and physical healing: physical healing restores the body while salvation restores the soul and reconciles us to God. Therefore, while we pray for healing of the body, we must never neglect the healing of the soul through salvation. Such understanding gives a balanced Christian approach: we pray for physical healing which is a wonderful expression of God’s mercy and more especially we pray for salvation in Christ which is ultimate healing. Mark 8:36 says that, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Salvation addresses our sin and gives eternal life and eternal salvation is of greater value than anything earthly because a person may receive physical healing and eventually die but whoever receives Christ has the promise of eternal life (John 3:16). Let us pray that our families, our homes and our churches would become communities of physical and spiritual healing that bring about total mental, physical and spiritual peace with God and our fellow human beings. Today I declare that God will sow in you the zeal and passion to focus on your salvation and in winning souls for Christ.
