Prepared for Good Works
Texts: Nehemiah 2:1–12, Ephesians 2:6–10, Mark 14:3–6
We are not just saved from something; we are saved for good works.
God did not save us merely to escape hell, but to serve Him and become instruments of His purpose on earth. Being prepared for good works means being spiritually ready and mentally focused on what God wants us to do.
God prepared these good works before we were born. His purpose precedes our preparation. You are not an accident—you are God’s project. Personal preparation makes you valuable and useful, and preparation always begins with prayer.
Lessons from Nehemiah (Nehemiah 2:7–8)
* Preparation includes patience. Nehemiah waited for the right timing.
* There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.
* God works through prepared and disciplined vessels.
* Good works flow from a heart of love and sacrifice.
Lessons from Mark 14:3–6
* Good works are not measured by public applause but by the posture of your heart.
* True preparation involves your heart.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the divine preparer. He empowers us for good works and draws us closer to God.
The Fruit of Preparation
God expects us to be faithful where we are. Preparation produces impact.
Practical Ways to Be Prepared for Good Works
1. Through prayer and fellowship.
2. Develop godly character.
3. Be sensitive to divine timing and instruction.
4. Serve faithfully where you are.
Preparation is not about doing more; it is about becoming the person God has prepared to do the work He has already planned.
