Dear Pastor’s Wife

Dear Pastor’s Wife Who minister’s to the pastor’s wife?

Through Dear Pastor’s Wife, I want to talk about topics that are important to Pastor’s wives that maybe we don’t talk about often enough.

It may seem bizarre to think of yourself as a tool, but doing so will make you more conscious that God created you to carry out an assignment. A tool is meant to fulfill a purpose.
The other day, I needed to fix a hanging shelf in my guest bathroom. So, I got out the toolbox, opened it, and fished for a hammer and a screwdriver. There were other tools in that box, but they were not meant for the project I had at hand.
Every tool I had purchased and stored in that box was put there for a purpose.
One day, I will need the Allen key or the double-sided tape, or some other item in that box. But in every instance, the tool has to be suitable for the purpose intended.
You are a tool that is suitable for an intended purpose.

People who have discovered themselves do not need to copy others. Although they can learn from others or emulate what they admire in other people, they stay grounded in their gifts. They do not feel the need to be like anyone else. As I have heard said many times, “Everyone else is taken, be yourself.”

Life often presents challenges that can be difficult to overcome. While it's natural to focus on the negative aspects of a situation, it's also helpful to look for the positive. Staying in our comfort zones for too long can be tempting, but it can also prevent us from growing and achieving our goals.

Dear Pastor's wife, I want to challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone. It may be uncomfortable at first, but the rewards are worth it. I also want to encourage you to keep showing up, even when it feels like nothing is happening. Your efforts will pay off in due time.

The other day, I was meditating on the words of Psalm 4:8 - In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe( NLT) - and I realized that pride is one of the things that keep us up at night. Pride? You may ask. Let me explain.

Many times, I catch myself awake at night either making plans or getting anxious about things I cannot change.
I am trying to keep my own life safe. The psalmist says only God could keep him safe( NKJV). It is pride to think I can keep myself safe through worry, anxiety or even planning.
Examine those thoughts that keep you awake at night, are they thoughts that make it seem like you are in control of your life or God is in control?
This is an area I am working on as well. Let us work on it together and learn to get the rest we need.

Good sleep is good business.

Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently - Deut 4:9a

Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God - Joshua 23:11

Therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously - Malachi 2:16

But take heed to yourselves: - Mark 13:9

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock - Acts 20:28

Dear Pastor’s Wife, you can see a theme here.
You need to pay attention to yourself; what is going on with you spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally.

You can only give to God and to others what is in your control. If your life is out of control, God cannot have maximum benefit from it, neither can other people. It is not a day’s journey. It will take time but a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. Start heading there today.

For example, how much rest do you give yourself Pastor's Wife? How often do you rejuvenate? This is a work in process for me too. Let’s commit to it together.

To every woman out there, we celebrate you today.😊

Happy International Women's Day🥳.................................

This month is Pastor's Wives Appreciation Month

In March of last year, I had a series of interviews with some brilliant and inspiring women who shed light on various topics including mental health, sleep, self-care, entrepreneurship and business, pediatric care, parenting and marriage. The content was rich and enlightening, as these women graciously drew from their years of expertise to answer my probing questions. I was intent on examining these topics in such a way that pastors’ wives could benefit from them. I have decided to bring back some highlights from those sessions. It is my way of saying, “I Love you and appreciate all that you do in the work of the kingdom.”

Watch this space all month long for content curated just for you ❤️. Happy Pastors’ Wives Appreciation Month.
