Today we gathered for the rededication of the park in honor of Officer Omar Edwards, remembering his life, his service, and his lasting impact on this community.

It was especially moving to witness his mother take part in the ribbon cutting, a powerful moment of love, remembrance, and honor. As we celebrate these new improvements to the park, we also reaffirm that Officer Edwards’ legacy continues to live on in this neighborhood.

Mount Zion A.M.E. Church was honored to stand with the Edwards family and the community on this special day. We remain committed to uplifting moments of remembrance, healing, and unity that strengthen the bonds of our neighborhood.

May this space always stand as a place of peace, reflection, community, and hope.

We thank God for progress. Step by step, we are learning, growing, and making the shift from analog to digital sound, and we are grateful for the faithfulness and consistency of our tech team as they help move this work forward.

When I first arrived at Mount Zion, I thought sound was one of the major issues, but over time it became clear that there were other pressing challenges tied to the building and our overall capacity. Even so, we praise God for every sign of growth, because we may not be where we want to be yet, but thank God we are not where we used to be.

A big shout-out to our dedicated team member learning the new digital soundboard, and to our entire tech ministry for their patience, service, and commitment. We celebrate progress, we celebrate consistency, and we give God glory for what is being built step by step.

As we close out Women’s Season and transition into Men’s Season, we want to just thank and praise God for ALL OF THE WOMEN of Mt. Zion and the work that they do.

Your faithfulness, your strength, and your consistency do not go unnoticed. Week after week, you continue to show up, serve, lead, and support in ways that help keep the church grounded and moving forward. The care you pour into the ministry and into one another is a reflection of God’s love in action.

We are grateful for each of you and the role you play in the life of our communities. As we move into this next season, we carry that same spirit with us, building on the foundation that has already been laid.

Mount Zion A.M.E. Church joyfully welcomes our new Presiding Elder, Rev. Dr. Danielle Hunter, to the Manhattan District of the New York Annual Conference.

In the A.M.E. Church, a Presiding Elder serves as a bishop’s appointed supervisor over a district within an annual conference, helping guide churches and clergy in ministry and administration.

We celebrate this new season of leadership and pray God’s richest blessings upon Rev. Dr. Hunter as she begins this assignment. May her service in the Manhattan District be marked by wisdom, grace, strength, and holy purpose.

We are honored and excited to welcome back Servant Leaders Rev. Kahlil G. James and Sis. Deborah Clark-James.
