MOUNT ZION: Our SYEP young people are showing up and showing out. From packing pantry bags for the community to power washing and scrubbing the church walls, they are doing meaningful work that serves people and improves the space around us.

This Community Service Initiative gives our youth real work readiness experience, exposure to the social institutions that support our neighborhood, and a chance to connect their labor with community care. Every day includes work and workshop time, with professional development rooted in the eight dimensions of wellness.
Some of these young people are heading to college, others are still in high school, but all of them are learning responsibility, teamwork, and work ethic that will serve them well anywhere they go.

A special shout-out to Reverend Isaac Scott, Minister and Director of Community Activities, for faithfully supervising the crew each morning, checking in, reflecting on the previous day, and making sure the flow of the day stays on point. We are grateful for these amazing young people and the value they bring to the work.

This summer, our Community Service Learning Initiative is giving young people the opportunity to build professional skills while making a meaningful impact in the East Harlem community. Through workshops, field trips, community service, leadership development, and hands on learning, participants are developing the confidence, knowledge, and experience needed to prepare for college, careers, and community leadership.

We are proud of the dedication our young people continue to demonstrate each week. Their commitment to learning, serving, and growing reminds us that investing in youth is one of the greatest investments we can make in our communities.
