A couple of weeks ago, we got to escape into the wilderness (pool table and all) for a youth retreat. Just like the Sermon on the Mount, we had several hours of preaching by Brother Ed on John 4 followed by a miraculous amount of garlic bread thanks to Brother Tony. Ninja Warrior shenanigans, testimonies, and painting still life’s all made for a blessed 24 hour trip.

Last Sunday our Joyland ministry had the opportunity to finally break our rice bowls and count up the money we have been collecting to support children all around the world suffering from hunger. Praying that our collection can contribute to help feed hungry stomachs, and ultimately contribute to feeding souls with the love of Christ.

From Pastor Daniel in a second part of our Gratitude series:

—Been enjoying our early Fall semester Compass Koinonia (NYU student fellowship) dynamics. In our first Bible Study, our returnees were so chatty catching up, we couldn’t start studying Luke 19 (Zacchaeus) for an hour. And then we went 1h15m as people were engaged! In the second gathering, we had fun getting to know our newcomers before we continued our theme of transformative encounters by delving into Exodus 3 (Moses’ call). Thank the Lord!

—Apple Picking was a hit! Other than lantern flies, it was a rather glorious day. Weather, apple varieties (although honey crisp is peerless) and cider donuts (Laws and Parks ate them hot) were stellar. Lawrence Farms French Fries are pretty amazing. Fave activity was listening to the kids talk on and on — what a hoot.

—Praying for one of us who was hospitalized for pneumonia. While visiting, got so blessed by her joy in seeing fellow church folk in-person and hearing/praying through the comfort/power of God’s Word from Isaiah 40. May she be discharged soon.

From Pastor Daniel:

In Acts 10, Peter was taught a brand new paradigm by the Holy Spirit about evangelizing all peoples. Been reflecting lately on experiencing answers to prayer.

After enjoying an egg/cheese outside Columbia’s St. Paul’s Chapel, I was prayer-walking the campus, recalling students by name. One guy I just prayed about strolled by on his way to a meeting and said hi! Kinda cool.

Long-running difficulty with a non-responsive relative. Had felt ghosted after trying to speak the truth in love, but prayed/texted yet again. They same-day responded!!

Was offering numerous tips on a certain standardized test a student was anxious about. Promised to pray and did during the actual test. And their weakest subject matter minimally showed up, much to their relief.

Thankful for these answered prayers? Have you experienced God’s prayer or gratitude recently?
