Public Proskomedia at 9:30 AM before the Divine Liturgy Tomorrow.

The Proskomedia or Prothesis, is the Orthodox rite of preparing the bread and w**e before the Divine Liturgy served privately by the priest. Performed by a priest at the Table of Oblation, the service blends themes of Christ’s Incarnation and Crucifixion. The priest cuts a central cube from the leavened prosphora loaf, called the Lamb, which is pierced with a liturgical spear. W**e and water are poured into the chalice, symbolizing the blood and water from Christ’s side. Additional bread particles are arranged around the Lamb to commemorate the Theotokos, saints, and the living and departed, representing the entire Church gathered around Christ.
