Tables of Jesus: Jesus and the Argument at the Table ๐
Right after Jesus tells His disciples He's about to die, they argue about who's the greatest. It's uncomfortably human โ underneath the argument is a real question we all ask: what is my place, and is it one of significance?
Jesus doesn't just call it out โ He redefines it. "Let the greatest among you become the youngest, and the leader as one who serves." Not status. Not proximity to the top. Greatness starts with where your eyes are trained, and it's shown through serving without the guarantee of recognition.
And when Peter's failure is exposed, Jesus doesn't walk away โ He prays for him. "I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail." The gap between the kingdom's demands and our own capacity is real, but so is His grace to meet us in it.
