that morning, and the bitter cold may
be with us for six more weeks. 🥶

Our words 'du jour/du semaine' are:
TRIBULATION, ANTICHRISTS,
PERSECUTION, WARRIORS, FAITH,
COURAGE, VICTORY, and PREPARED.

Those paying attention know that we
have entered a time of TRIBULATION.
ANTICHRISTS engage in PERSECUTION
of Christians, as they wage their war
against us.

We must have FAITH and COURAGE
[there's that word again] to be
effective WARRIORS and 'hold the
line' until Christ returns to finalize the
VICTORY He won for us on the Cross.

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO DELAYS
AND CIRCUMSTANCES: THE WATCH
PARTY HAS BEEN CANCELED. 😭

Slippery back roads in our rural
county, darkness due to the late EST
game and halftime,😴 delay in setting up
the new big screen TV in our Fellowship
Hall, illness of several of our members,
[especially those who prepare the food!
🍕🍿🥪] school schedules and
questionable suitability of the NFL
halftime show for our children ++ have
sidetracked our 'best-laid plans' for this
event. It's time for us to have some
discretion and acceptance.
Deepest apologies to those who wanted
to come. 🤐

[TPUSA-com] plans a more family-
oriented star-studded alternative
to the "Unacceptable Rabbit" #
[aka 'Bad Bunny'] NFL production.
Switch to
"The All-American Halftime Show"

halftime .. then switch back to
the game when the 3rd quarter

Our words 'du jour/du semaine' are:
RESOLUTIONS, FITNESS, DISCIPLINE,
PRAY, TRUST, OBEY, and EXERCISE.

As we make our RESOLUTIONS for the
New Year: our thoughts turn to FITNESS
[for some of us, at least!]

For this to last more than a week or two,
DISCIPLINE is required.

That, in turn, involves focus, effort, study,
hard work, some pain, practice, resilience,
and steadfastness.
[much easier said than done!]

As we honor God's desire for our
'Spiritual Fitness'. the above are even
more important as we pursue it.

PRAY for His blessings via the Holy
Spirit, Who has been sent as our
'coach' and 'drill instructor' to help us
'pass muster' and win the Father's
approval.

We must discern and hear the Spirit's still,
quiet voice within: [unlike the shouts of
other coaches and drill instructors]: listen
to it, TRUST it, and OBEY it's guidance.

"7 But refuse profane and old wives'
fables, and EXERCISE thyself rather
unto godliness.
8 For bodily EXERCISE profiteth little: but
godliness is profitable unto all things,
having promise of the life that now is,
and of that which is to come."
- 1Timothy 4:7-8

As we close out January, remember to
keep and /or renew our RESOLUTIONS,
- especially our pledges to God.

EMANUEL.

EMANUEL: God with us.

EMANUEL: The Father Who loves us, sent

us until Jesus returns to rule
our world !

Our word 'du jour/du semaine' is: STAR.

Every 'season' has its 'STARs'. This
holiday season has several 'masters'
promoting various 'STARs' for their
own purposes.

What or who is the STAR in your heart?
Which 'master' shall you serve?

"No man can serve two masters: for
either he will hate the one, and love
the other; or else he will hold to the
one, and despise the other. Ye
cannot serve God and mammon."
- Matthew 6:24

For us: the real 'STAR' is our Heavenly
Father with His Love, Grace, Mercy, and
Plan of Salvation. We celebrate Jesus'
birth and willingness to be sent in
order to accomplish His mission. We
thank and praise all persons of the Holy
Trinity for making that Plan so.

Secular merchant 'masters' promote
Santa as they hope their balance sheets
once again show black ink [thus 'black
Friday' etc. etc.] While we all love our
children and Santa Claus, he is not the
point. The Magi honored Jesus - not
Herod nor anyone or anything else.

Other would-be 'masters' promote
alternative 'STARs' to distract us.

While we wish 'Happy Holidays' to all:
We need to place 'first things first'.

Hollywood 'STAR' Woody Allen said:
"Eighty percent of success is
showing up."

Whatever the actual day or year, finally -
after thousands of years of Old
Testament promise and prophesy:

JESUS 'SHOWED UP' ON CHRISTMAS !!

['success' came 33 years later: Good
Friday thru Easter Sunday.]

"When Jesus therefore had received the
vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he
bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
- John 19:30

Now THIS is OUR 'reason for the season' !

GIFTS and LOVE.

'Tis the season to plan GIFTS for those
we LOVE! This, of course, is based on
the GIFTS of the Magi:
"And when they were come into the .
house, they saw the young child with
Mary his mother, and fell down, and
worshipped him: and when they had
opened their treasures, they presented
unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense,
and myrrh." -Matthew 2:11

Beside GIFTS for those we LOVE, don't
forget our Heavenly Father and Jesus
who He sent !!

What does God want for Christmas?
He doesn't need gold, frankincense, or
myrhh : He wants our LOVE, Trust, and
Obedience!

The Holy Sprit (who Jesus sent) will
guide us how to Please all persons of
the Holy Trinity.

Our words 'du jour/du semaine' are:
THANKS, LOVE, PLEASE, TRUST, and
OBEY.

As we enter the holiday season: we
should give THANKS for the LOVE of
our God. Notwithstanding the second
'law' of thermodynamics and the
entropic 'doom' of all existence, we
appreciate not only that God simply IS
[the original Miracle and source of all
other miracles], but that He is the God
of LOVE!

As David writes in Psalm 100:
" 1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all
ye lands.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come
before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is
he that hath made us, and not we
ourselves; we are his people, and the
sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise: be
thankful unto him, and bless his
name.
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is
everlasting; and his truth endureth to
all generations."
This encapsulates the entirety of the
events and purposes of the season.

As we LOVE our God, we seek to PLEASE
Him. The best way to do that is to place
our TRUST in Him and OBEY His word.

Congrats to Sim Dunn and Anita Shoffner
on their Ordination November 16th!

On Nov 2nd we celebrated Pastor Mike
for Pastor Appreciation Day.

His USMC training and experience, along
with anointing of the Holy Spirit, are why
our church continues - despite his health
challenges. When doctors at Vanderbilt
University performed a laryngectomy to
treat his cancer, he feared he might not
preach again.

The Lord had other plans. Using a
prosthetic voice, Mike has been doing
so for more than two years. Praise God
for our courageous Pastor! All our love
to Pastor Mike Vandergriff!

ghosts, goblins, scary movies, haunted
houses, and candy for the kids ..
. we also observe this "Hallowed Eve" of
All Saints Day: giving thanks to God for
the saints and prophets He has sent to
warn, guide, encourage, and bless us
with their wisdom, charity, service, and
sacrifice.

Have a little fun, but remember its true
meaning.
