When Nebuchadnezzar first looked at his kingdom, he praised himself. He looked at his accomplishments, his power, his resources, and believed he had built it all by his own strength. But Yahweh humbled him.
At the end of his journey, he finally understood something we all must learn. We cannot keep ourselves.
It is not our job that sustains us.
It is not our health that preserves us.
It is not our abilities or intelligence that hold our lives together. Everything we have is because of Yahweh and sustained by Yahweh.
That is why Nebuchadnezzar’s words changed in Daniel 4:37. Instead of praising himself, he lifted his voice and praised the Most High, acknowledging that Yahweh rules over everything and humbles those who walk in pride.
When we finally realize that our lives are upheld by Yahweh alone, our response becomes the same as Nebuchadnezzar’s: praise.
