Br. Rafael Vargas, SDB will make his perpetual profession alongside Brs. Branden and Joshua. He shares that, to him, “perpetual profession is a humbling realization of God’s grace and His desire to be in my life and in those around me, especially in the lives of the young most abandoned. It is a reminder of how God has led me here and how in need I am of Him in order to live the calling He has given me.”

Lord, guide Brs. Rafael, Branden, and Joshua as they prepare to officially declare their perpetual profession to follow You as Salesians of Don Bosco. We ask this through Christ Our Lord—amen. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us! St. John Bosco, pray for us!

In three days, Br. Joshua Sciullo, SDB will also make his perpetual profession.

“What can I say about my profession?” he begins. “This vocation is a call into a journey, a lifelong relationship with the One who is the love of my life. I can think of nothing simpler than that, which still holds the complexity of my life.”

We rejoice in Br. Joshua answering the Lord’s call and pray for him and everyone as they prepare for their perpetual professions this Saturday. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us! St. John Bosco, pray for us!

This Saturday, August 21, Br. Branden Gordon, SDB will make his perpetual profession. He remarks that, to him, “religious profession is a response to God’s call to live out one’s baptismal consecration in a more profound way. It is a public commitment to imitate Jesus more closely by a life of obedience, poverty, and chastity. It is also an expression of one’s desire to embody and transmit a particular charism—in my case, the Salesian charism—for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.”

God bless you, Br. Branden! We pray for Br. Branden and all our SDBs who are preparing to make their perpetual professions this year. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us! St. John Bosco, pray for us!

Congratulations to Br. Kevin and Br. John on their renewal of professions last weekend!

Congratulations to Br. Kevin and Br. John on their renewal of professions last weekend!

Last year, Br. Kevin White, SDB made his first profession at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point, NY. He will renew his vows this Sunday, marking exactly one year since his first profession.

Br. Kevin says that, to him, “Salesian profession means a free and total commitment of my life to God, lived out through three unique aspects: devoting all my strength to those to whom God sends me (especially to young people who are poorer), living Salesian life in communion of spirit and action with my brother Salesians, and sharing in the life and mission of the Church. Salesian profession means imitating Jesus more deeply so that I may be an instrument of God through which young people can hopefully encounter Christ. Our Salesian formula of profession is one that allows us to fully live out our God-given vocation, and for union with God and holiness.”

Lord, we pray that you continue to bless and guide Br. Kevin and our SDBs as they prepare to make their first, renewed, and perpetual professions. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us! St. John Bosco, pray for us!
