Thank you to everyone who made our New York Aeriocht a success this year. We just dropped off our first set of donations, a combined $800 to Sláinte Irish Dance and Gaelic Society at Fordham University to keep the culture alive on campuses across New York City.

Official Announcement from the Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade

As a result of the predicted extreme weather expected this Saturday, the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Parade on McLean Avenue is unfortunately being postponed for 2 weeks until Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 1 PM.

On that date, we will start the day with Holy Mass at 11:15 am at St. Barnabas Chapel, immediately followed by the start of
the Parade at 1 PM outside the Chapel door at McLean and Hyatt Avenues, Yonkers.

We regret any inconvenience this change of date causes any of our participants or spectators, but given the weather forecast
we believe it is the most prudent action to maintain not only the comfort but the safety of all.

We hope you will be able to join us under brilliant sunny skies on April 6th, only 2 short weeks away.

Sincerely,

Ursula McIntyre

The highest honor one can receive in Irish-American circles is to be named Grand Marshal of their local St. Patrick’s Day Parade, with the highest honor of all being Grand Marshal of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a parade which predates the establishment of the American Republic. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday massacre today, there was one local man who exposed the atrocities committed by the British: Don Mullan. He witnessed the events of Bloody Sunday and wrote a book about everything he saw. It had so much impact that it forced the British government to have an inquiry into the event. But the book would have never been made if it was not for Iona College. He worked at the college as the head of the study abroad program and the brothers there supported his writing. So much so that in the introduction of the book he thanks the Christian Brothers for helping get the book made and he later received an honorary degree from Iona in 1997.
