This Sunday, we looked at how prayer is simply about a heart connection with our Heavenly Father; not a public performance or a routine chore. Jesus warns us against "showing off" or treating God like a vending machine, inviting us instead into genuine, honest communication.

To help deepen our personal prayer lives, we walked through the P.R.A.Y. acronym: Praise God for who He is, Repent of where we’ve fallen short, Ask specifically for our daily needs and spiritual protection, and Yield our own agendas to God's will. Let’s move past the quick, routine prayers this week and take intentional steps toward a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord. 🙏

This Sunday, we looked at Matthew 6 and unpacked a challenging question: Whose applause are you living for? Just like we can fall into the trap of curating a "perfect" life on social media, it’s easy to turn our faith into a stage performance, doing good things just to be noticed by others. Jesus reminds us that when we practice our righteousness (like giving or fasting) to gain human approval, a two-minute applause is the only reward we get. But when we serve, give, and fast in secret, our audience is God alone. This week, we are challenged to move from performance to true worship and put these two practices (giving and fasting) into practice this week!

This Sunday, we continued digging into Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and challenged ourselves to stop hunting for relational loopholes. It’s easy to focus on the "letter of the law" to get what we want, but Jesus calls His followers to a higher standard of spiritual maturity and integrity. We looked at how this applies to four major areas of our lives: our marriages, our honesty, our pursuit of justice, and how we love (especially our enemies). Ultimately, Jesus isn't asking us to look for a way out; He’s inviting us to grow up and reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father. If someone looked closely at your marriage, your honesty, your grace, and your love this week, would they know who your Father is? Let’s lay down the excuses, run to His grace, and let the Holy Spirit transform our relationships from the inside out!

In pursuit of being fully devoted followers, Jesus has called and commanded us to be baptized. If you have put your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and haven't been baptized, or would simply like to learn more about baptism, we invite you to join us on July 19 during the fellowship lunch for our Believer’s Baptism Class. We will discuss the meaning and significance of baptism, as well as help you discern if you are ready to take this next step. Sign up in the lobby if you are interested.

This Sunday, we dove into Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount to look past the surface of outward appearances and address what’s happening on the inside. Looking at Matthew 5, we unpacked the first two of Jesus' antithesis statements dealing with anger and lust. Jesus reveals that God’s standard goes far deeper than simply avoiding murder or adultery; harboring anger, using dehumanizing words, or nursing lustful thoughts are internal issues that sink us from within. True biblical righteousness means taking radical steps to pursue reconciliation and cut off temptations before they take root. But because we all fall short, it ultimately takes more than just behavioral adjustments; we need a new heart. Thankfully, Jesus is the ultimate surgeon, offering forgiveness, a fresh start, and His Holy Spirit to everyone who surrenders to Him.

This past Sunday, we continued our journey through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount by tackling a big question: What does it actually mean to be righteous? While our culture often uses human righteousness like a window by looking out to compare ourselves to others and judge who is "good," God’s standard of righteousness acts more like a mirror. As we read God's Word it reflects our true hearts, shows us where we fall short, and reminds us that none of us can be "good enough" on our own merit. But here is the beautiful news of the Gospel: Jesus came to fulfill the law for us. When we stop trying to prove ourselves at the window and step in front of the mirror of faith, Jesus steps in. Are you still trying to prove yourself at the window, or are you ready to step in front of the mirror?
