This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Rogation Sunday.
What is Rogation Sunday?
The word comes from the Latin word which means "to ask". We ask for a lot of things from God, but on this day, we gather to honor God for the gift of creation and to pray for the land, the gift of labor, and the needs of all people.
We learn from the Holy Scripture that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and caused the sun to shine and the rain to fall, the plants to grow and the earth to give forth its increase. God is the giver of life in the seed, in the soil, and on the sowers.
So this Sunday we'll gather to ask God's blessing on the seed that has been or will be planted, the soil that has been cultivated, and the farmers who labor to the service of God and for the good of all humanity.
A special invite goes out to the farmers and gardeners of our parish to attend. We hope to see you all there!

We often post notes of thanks for those who help and contribute to our worship services. Today our organist Gratia Johnson gets her own thank you post! She deserves it after Holy Week! Her service and dedication to the music and to the worship services of our church is second to none.
We all truly appreciate her faithfulness and dedication to our churches. Thank you!

I know that my Redeemer lives;
what comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my everlasting Head.

He lives and grants me daily breath;
He lives and I shall conquer death;
He lives my mansion to prepare;
He lives to bring me safely there.

He lives, all glory to His name!
He lives, my Jesus, still the same.
Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives,
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"
