What if the thing you need most isn’t another solution…but Jesus?

Jairus had a problem he couldn’t solve. His daughter was dying, and he knew where to turn.

A woman had suffered for twelve years. She had tried everything, spent everything, and was still hurting. Then she heard that Jesus was passing by.

Both of them had reached a moment where Jesus wasn’t just another option. He was their hope.

And maybe that’s where some of us find ourselves...
You’re facing something you can’t fix.
You’re carrying something you can’t control.
You’re waiting for an answer that hasn’t come yet.

Where do you turn when you’ve run out of options?

Tomorrow, we’re going to Mark 5:21-43 and looking at two people who discovered what happens when you bring your impossible situation to Jesus. Because sometimes the most important decision isn’t figuring out what to do next. It’s deciding where to begin.

What is shaping your life?

Every day, we are being shaped by something. Our culture, our circumstances, our successes, our failures, and the opinions of others all have a way of influencing who we are becoming.

But God has a different plan.

His grace doesn’t simply forgive us for who we were. His grace transforms us into who He has called us to be.

Tomorrow, Pastor Dave begins a brand new sermon series, “Shaped by Grace,” as we dive into Romans 12 with a message titled “Call to Commitment.” Together, we’ll discover what it means to allow God’s grace to shape the way we think, live, serve, and follow Christ.

What if the things we love most aren’t always the things that are best for us?

We all have a tendency to put something in the place that belongs to God.

It might be success. Relationships. Comfort. Money. Approval. Possessions. Even something that is actually a good thing.

The problem isn’t that we value these things. The problem comes when something good becomes more important than God Himself.

In Acts 17, Paul walks through Athens and sees a city filled with idols. Instead of simply condemning them, he points them toward something better: the one true God who created us, loves us, and calls us to seek Him.

Tomorrow, we’re continuing our series on the early church with Idols, Part Two, as we look at Acts 17:22-34 and wrestle with a challenging question:

What has taken God’s place in your life?

When we settle for lesser things, we miss the One who alone is worthy of our worship.

Join us this Sunday as we discover what happens when we turn our hearts away from the things that compete for God’s place and back toward the God who created us, loves us, and calls us to Himself.

WHAT IF THE THING YOU’RE TRUSTING CAN’T SAVE YOU?

We all have things we look to for security, success, comfort, or identity.

The problem is, good things can become ultimate things. And when something takes the place that belongs to God, it becomes an idol.

Tomorrow at New Paris Missionary Church, we’re looking at the idols we may not even realize we’re worshiping.

God alone is worthy of our worship. And when we turn from the things we’ve made and put our trust in the One who made us, we discover where true hope is found.

Can a person really change?

Most of us carry something we’d rather leave behind. Regret. Pride. Anger. Shame. A past we wish we could rewrite. We wonder if real change is actually possible.
