Our fellow parishioner Kate Grimsland would like to share with us some photos of the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America, which is located in Washington, D.C, and where she sometimes goes when she is visiting her family in that area.

There are replicas of the Christian sites in the Holy Land, as well as of the San Damiano Church that played such an important role in the life of St. Francis of Assisi. There are also many beautiful gardens, a replica of Lourdes and a Stations of the Cross walking path.

If you have any photos of the churches and holy sites you are visiting that you would like to share with our parishioners, please send them to Fr. Salvatore at [email protected]

The Parish Council is an advisory group to the pastor, as well as a representative body of all the members of this parish family. They really are the “eyes and ears” of what’s going on all around the parish.

Let them know what you think about our parish!

PRAYER INTENTIONS FROM THE SISTERS OF LIFE

As you know, the Sisters of Life are a religious order dedicated to the protection of human life.

SHARING THE GOOD THINGS ABOUT ST. JOSEPH’S

As you well know, St. Joseph’s is an exceptional parish and we are blessed with so many good things, as well as of course with so many good people!

At a Parish Council meeting, Fr. Salvatore and the members of the Council came up with a long list of the things about St. Joseph’s that the people who are not in our parish should be aware of and hopefully will inspire them to join our family.

Every month, through the bulletin and our page, we are sharing one of these qualities of our parish and we encourage you to let your family and friends who are not part of our parish know about it. We want as many people as possible to share in these good things!

This month's suggestion to share is:
We are a Capuchin parish, and so the Franciscan spirit is an essential part of all that we do. That is, we know and we celebrate that we are all brothers and sisters and everyone has something to share, with no one being more important or more treasured than any other.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I did not even know who Christ was, that He was God. I had not the faintest idea that there existed such a thing as the Blessed Sacrament. I thought churches were simply places where people got together and sang a few hymns.

And yet now I tell you, you who are now what I once was, unbelievers, it is that Sacrament, and that alone, the Christ living in our midst, and sacrificed by us, and for us and with us, in the clean and perpetual Sacrifice, it is He alone Who holds our world together, and keeps us all from being poured headlong and immediately into the pit of our eternal destruction.

And I tell you there is a power that goes forth from that Sacrament, a power of light and truth, even into the hearts of those who have heard nothing of Him and seem to be incapable of belief.”- Thomas Merton

SHARE WITH US PHOTOS OF THE CHURCHES YOU VISIT

It's that time for taking well-deserved vacations, and of course you search out a church to attend Mass while you're away.

For the past few years, many of you shared with us photos of the church(es) you found while you are away, and we hope you will do so again this year. We will post them as we get them, and please send them to Fr. Salvatore at [email protected].

It goes without saying that there is no parish like our own, and you are with us as we celebrate the Eucharist, no matter where you are!
