Lantern Light, Inc. is a Collaborative Project of the Conference of Presentation Sisters of North in New Orleans, Louisiana. Joseph's Rebuild Center.

is a Collaborative Project of the Conference of Presentation Sisters of North America and has been responding to the “cry of those made poor” in New Orleans since September 2005. The ministry reaches out in faith to the homeless and those made poor, a bearer of hope as its various manifestations are nurtured, by encouraging, supporting, comforting, assisting and being a compassionate, listening pr

esence to those encountered. Lantern Light Ministry is part of a four-part coalition of of Catholic and other faith-based organizations serving the Canal Street corrider known as the St. The purpose of the Rebuilld Center is to provide a setting, resources and opportunities for collaboration among Catholic and other faith-based organizations in the City of New Orleans. The center will work with needy and displaced residents to rebuild their lives and repopulate this neighborhood.

As we celebrate our 7th Annual Gala, this year’s Honorees of the Nano Nagle NOLA Service Award will be presented to The Bucktown Boys and Susan Mays in recognition of their faithful service and unwavering dedication to the mission of Lantern Light.

For more than 20 years, The Bucktown Boys, founded through LUDOVICUM Knights of Columbus Court #4663, have compassionately served meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. Their ministry began through the Feed Jesus Program at St. Joseph Church and continues today through their devoted partnership with Lantern Light. Through years of steadfast commitment, they have embodied the spirit of service and community that remains at the heart of our mission.

We are also honored to recognize Susan Mays, whose compassionate service has touched countless lives through her nearly five years of volunteer work with Lantern Light. A retired educator from Orleans Parish Schools and Caddo Parish Public Schools, Susan has generously supported our ministry by organizing donations through the Lighthouse Bible Study Group and faithfully assisting with our Food Bank and meal programs. Her kindness, dedication, and servant leadership continue to inspire all who encounter her.

During this year’s Gala, we celebrate and give thanks for the generosity, compassion, and enduring commitment of these remarkable honorees whose service reflects the mission and spirit of Lantern Light.✨🎉

A New Orleans native, Damon is a veteran meteorologist who spent 18 years at WDSU’s First Warning Weather team and 22 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a commander. Today, he brings his energy, expertise, and passion for the community to every story he shares.
