Day 339, “Breaking The Spirit of Poverty”
We are living during a time where God is transferring His wealth into the hand of those of us who are committed to living a life of purity and holiness which is the righteousness of God. One of the best ways for the family of God to create wealth is to establish a generation of men and women living a life that is pleasing to Him.
God says that a good person leaves an inheritance to their children's children while the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just (Proverbs 13.22). As Marketplace Leaders, it is our responsibility to leave an inheritance of purity and holiness which produces righteousness and integrity in the marketplace. As we do, this becomes a sure way to eradicate systemic poverty.
When a person is bound by systemic poverty, it means that he or she has inherited a system of deficiency and destitution. This type of poverty is transferred from one generation to the next, embedded within the DNA of each spawn, resulting in different types of mental infirmities within the family’s bloodline. If the spirit causing the lack is left untreated, it will become a stronghold within the minds of future generations.
Marketplace Leaders’ responsibility is to eradicate poverty wherever it exists. King Solomon has a lot to say about poverty and wealth.
So how do we break or eradicate a spirit of poverty that’s been oppressing us far too long? In order to remove that spirit, we need to first identify and bind the strong man by identifying the spirit that we are dealing with. Here are several spirits of poverty that must be identified:
The first spirit we must recognize is the spirit of Elam, whose name implies, “binding up.” This spirit will do everything within its power to keep us bound; as in a straight jacket, or in chain, in an attempt to keep us from breaking free from ungodly habits, traditions and lifestyles. This spirit cannot be taken lightly. Your life, or the life of those very close to you, may depend on it.
The second spirit is the spirit of Tidal. This spirit is assigned to make you afraid. It is the spirit of Fear. We’ve seen it before. In fact, we’ve seen it defeated only to slip back in at the worst time possible. This is the demonic spirit which causes a person to shrink up on the inside and feel unworthy, ashamed, unappreciated and scared to make the necessary changes out of poverty. Tidal is a familiar spirit that is attracted to you because of the sin and behavior of past generations. Ignorance and passivity is the nourishment needed to keep this familiar spirit active and alive generation after generation.
The third spirit is the spirit of Shinar. Shinar is dispatched to try and keep people in the dark. This spirit will tell you over and over and over again that there is no way out of your circumstances. Maybe you’ve heard one of its lines, “There is no way to save that retirement nest egg that built up as a result of a booming market,” or “You will never be able to get free from poverty and debt.” This spirit is happy you lost your pension because of the financial meltdown. This spirit rejoices that you lost your job. This is the spirit that has a heyday during tough economic times. This spirit is laughing at you as your homes, cars, savings and earthly possessions are lost to the highest bidder. This is the spirit which will do everything within its power to get you to listen to rumors instead of the truth.
The fourth spirit is the spirit of Ellasar. This spirit is “lion-like,” roaring of the devil. This is the spirit of confusion that roars in your head. It breeds on inconsistencies and inaccuracies. This spirit confuses us so much that we can’t clearly hear the voice of the Lord. 1 Peter 5:8 reads, “Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” This spirit will do everything within its power to keep you from obeying the Word of God. However, we should know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Satan is not a lion; he’s only “lion-like.” Jesus defeated him at Calvary and has given us the authority to trample on all the power of the enemy whereby nothing will harm us (Luke 10.19).
Let’s Pray: Dear God, thank You for this mighty and powerful understanding of the spirits that have been holding me back. Thank You for empowering me with the ability to walk in Your light of life. Lord, teach me how to be released from these curses and to walk in the fullness of liberty as promised in John 8.36. I declare I am on my way to my healthy and wealthy place. I decree I am committed to eradicating systemic poverty wherever it exists. I bind the spirits of debt, Elam, Tidal, Shinar and poverty, declaring they are broken off from my life and the lives of those within my family, in the matchless name of Jesus Christ. I loose health, wisdom, liberty and wealth in its place by the power of the Blood of Jesus. Today, I decree that I and my family will live a life of purity and integrity in the marketplace. I also bind the spirits of darkness, confusion and fear from my blood line now and forever more and loose the Spirit of Truth and the Light of life in its place. I thank You Lord that I am ready Now to receive Your wealth that is being transferred to me and my family, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
