Today provided some time for groups to have fun in New Orleans including rides on the streetcars to the French Quarter, a chance to indulge in coffee and beignets with friends, or to stay home and converse with friends. This evening included a prayerful reflection and sharing of stories about the dreaming, the beginning, the ministry at The HOC, the various groups that we have hosted over the years, and the gratitude for those we served. Laughter and a few tears were shared with the two videos that were shared. Grace Hartzog SC thanked the original core members, the advisory board of the HOC, and those present who served over the years. Although bittersweet, the closing of the House of Charity will still be celebrated as a legacy of collaboration, creativity, innovation of unleashing the charism of Charity to many who have passed through these doors. Its legacy of service to the people of New Orleans will be celebrated tomorrow with an open house. What a reunion that will be!
