Have you ever had something good in your life become too important?

This week's homework has been to read and meditate on Judges 8:22–35 as we conclude our Great Stories of the Bible series this Sunday.

Together, we'll explore:

✨ What did the offer to Gideon in Verse 22 say about the Israelite people's mindset?
→ How did they view Gideon?
→ What did Gideon's response say about what he wanted them to understand?
✨ (Verse 27) What is an Ephod? What is it used for? Was Gideon's ephod a good or bad thing?
→ How did Israel relate to Gideon's Ephod?
✨ Where was the Ephod located? What does Gideon's son "Abimelek" mean?
→ What do these things say about Gideon's mindset? What do you think the people understood these things to mean?
✨ Are there Gideon ephods in your life? What are they saying to the people who are watching?

Have you ever wondered if it's okay to question God? Have you ever asked, "Are You really there?" or "How do I know what You're asking me to do?"

Gideon wrestled with those same questions. This Sunday, we'll continue our Great Stories of the Bible series from what we read and meditated on from this week's homework through Judges 6:16–24, 33–40, and 7:8–16.

Together, we will discuss the following:

✨Why did Gideon test God?
→ Were these tests rejected by God? Were these tests ok?
→ What did these tests show about Gideon's mindset?
✨What makes 7:8-16 different than 6:16-24 and 6:33-40?
→ What does 7:8-16 say about Gideon and his relationship with God?
✨How does this Gideon understanding work with Deuteronomy 6:16; Matthew 4:7?
✨Were the Disciples rebuked in the New Testament for not believing?
✨Is it ok for us to question God?
