Second Sunday after Pentecost

Focal Scripture: Matthew 9:9-26
“If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” ~ Matthew 9:21

Today is the second Sunday after Pentecost. In our Scripture passages we will reflect on Jesus' desire for us to be more focused on giving mercy is most important in our faith journey. Matthew highlights themes of faith, mercy, and restoration. This passage includes the calling of Matthew, a tax collector, and two significant healing miracles performed by Jesus.

Please join us for our in-person for our Worship Service beginning at 10 AM. We are located at 5401 South Claiborne Ave on the second floor of the school wing.
NOTE: Please enter through the S. Prieur Street entrance on the backside of the building and head up to the second floor.

You can also catch us right here on Facebook Live at the same time. All of our services are recorded and posted to our Vimeo page for you to view at anytime https://vimeo.com/MCCNewOrleans

She looks calm in this photograph.

But Vietnam was never calm.

In 1969, thousands of American women served in a war zone far from home. They worked in hospitals, command centers, and remote bases where every day brought new challenges. The heat was relentless. The hours were long. And danger was never far away.

Many were barely out of their teens.

Yet they carried responsibilities that would test even the strongest among us.

They comforted wounded soldiers who missed their families. They worked through exhaustion when others depended on them. They endured rocket attacks, sleepless nights, and the emotional weight of seeing war up close.

And still, they showed up the next day.

Photos like this remind us that courage doesn't always stand on the front line with a rifle. Sometimes it sits quietly, carrying burdens few people ever see.

More than 11,000 American military women served in Vietnam. Their service helped save countless lives, supported critical operations, and left a legacy that deserves to be remembered.

History often celebrates the warriors.

But it should never forget the women who helped hold everything together.

🇺🇸 Their stories matter. Their sacrifices matter. Their service matters.

Daniel Radcliffe has quietly partnered with a trans youth shelter for ongoing support, and the move is earning praise from fans who admire his steady commitment to LGBTQ+ young people. Known for using his platform with compassion, the actor’s support highlights the importance of safe spaces for trans youth who may face rejection, housing insecurity, or lack of family support. His quiet partnership shows that allyship does not always need big publicity to make a real impact. For many supporters, this gesture reflects kindness, responsibility, and the belief that every young person deserves safety, dignity, and care. As the story spreads online, many are celebrating Daniel Radcliffe for standing with trans youth in a meaningful way.
