Its mission is to educate the Church of New Orleans on the contributions o

f the Black Catholic community as it shares its gifts in the Church and society. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the office advocates for equality in education, social justice, and pastoral ministries throughout the Church and the community. It strives towards equal participation for all by raising consciousness in the administrative offices of the Archdiocese, while offering advice to the Archbishop in matters concerning the Black Catholic Community.

EN: Join the community of St. Anthony of Padua in Greenville on June 17 for this year's Juneteenth celebration. Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. by Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, followed by dinner and a jazz concert. Many Catholic liturgists and musicians from around the country will be in attendance from the national Lyke Conference held in Greenville — all are welcome!

Last week, Archbishop Checchio received the Provincial of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, Fr. Joseph Peter Mumbai, FMH (pictured left of Archbishop Checchio) along with the pastor of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish in New Orleans Fr. Francis Kamau, FMH and several other priests of the order. The Franciscan Missionaries of Hope have ministered at St. Josephine Bakhita, and before that St. Mary of the Angels, for many years and their faithful witness to the their charism is evident in the work that they do here and throughout the world.
