👏👏👏 After decades of advocacy from FCNL’s network and the broader peace movement, the 2002 Iraq Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) has finally been repealed!

This is a big win for peace — and a historic milestone in our advocacy efforts to urge Congress to reclaim its constitutional war powers and end endless wars.

And it is a MAJOR testament to the power of grassroots advocacy and the persistent efforts of so many of you in FCNL’s network. THANK YOU!

"Art thou in darkness? Mind it not, for if thou do, it will fill thee more, but stand still and act not, and wait in patience till light arises out of darkness to lead thee.

Art thou wounded in conscience? Feed not there, but abide in the light, which leads to the grace and truth, which teaches to deny and put off the weight, and removes the cause, and brings saving health to light."

James Nayler, 1659
Early English Quaker leader

The Friends Meeting of New Orleans joins other Quaker meetings and faith communities in demanding an immediate and permanent end to the war in Palestine.

We join South Central Yearly Meeting in their Gaza Cease-Fire Minute:

South Central Yearly Meeting stands for long-term peace and justice in the Middle East. We oppose all war. We oppose all forms of discrimination, including [discrimination] based on religion and ethnicity. We believe that lasting peace requires the honoring of the human rights of all people, including equality and self-determination. We hold the leadership of Hamas, the government of Israel, and the U.S. government responsible to the same high standards of international humanitarian law and call for de-escalation, humanitarian access in Gaza, and a ceasefire throughout the region.

HELLO, ALL!

Sorry to "shout" but we are so excited -- we will begin meeting in person for silent worship beginning Sunday, March 26!

Out of an abundance of caution, masks and proof of vaccination will be required.

Here are the basics, for our newcomers:

Worship begins at 10 AM and ends at 11 AM and is followed by a brief discussion. We plan to meet weekly in person until/unless the CoVid infection levels rise significantly.

Meeting is held in the annex of Carrollton United Methodist Church, 921 South Carrollton.

We meet on the second floor. Enter the building through the breezeway, turn right after entering, and climb the stairway to the right at the end of that short hallway.

We will meet in person weekly. We will hold hybrid meetings (in person and online) on 2nd and 4th Sundays. We will do our best to offer online meetings every Sunday; please be patient with us during this transition.

If you have any questions or thoughts, please call or message us.

We look forward to seeing you all. Peace be with you.
