Councilman Freddie King III (along with his girls, one of whom you can see sleeping on his shoulder) attended our first Sunday Mass back in the main church since Hurricane Ida. As Father Emmanuel said, we couldn’t have made it back into the church without the work of many people behind the scenes. We thank the councilman for his support and offer him our prayers for the work he does representing our community.

Here’s Mayor Moreno with St Aug parishioner Catherine Tate. We want to thank Mayor Moreno for worshiping with us on our first Sunday back in the main church since Hurricane Ida. As she said in her brief remarks, “What a joyous joyous joyous morning!” We thank her for her support in keeping history alive in New Orleans and pray for her success she serves our city.

We’re back home! Check out this short article and beautiful pictures of our return to the main church.

This past weekend we celebrated the birthday of Doretha Augustus, member of the lector team who reminded us at our recent parish meeting not to call our migration back into the main church a reopening but a reentry! Thank you for that reminder and for all you do to serve our parish!

Happy birthday, Doretha. May the good Lord bless you!

And just a reminder: we invite everyone come to St. Augustine the week of their birthday for a special birthday blessing St. Augustine style.
