Brief History of Jerusalem COGIC:

SUPERINTENDENT ALBERT BRECKENRIDGE WAS A MAN OF VISION AND WISDOM. WHEN PEOPLE TOLD HIM IT COULD NOT BE DONE, HE BELIEVED THAT GOD WOULD PROVE THEM WRONG. HE DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO THE WORK OF THE LORD. AFTER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE UNTO THE LORD AT JERUSALEM, ALBERT BRECKENRIDGE WAS CALLED HOME. HIS WIFE HELEN REMAINED THE QUEEN OF THE JERUSALEM CHURCH OF GOD IN C

HRIST, SERVING AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE MOTHER’S BOARD & CHURCH TREASURER UNTIL HER DEATH IN THE SUMMER OF AUGUST 2005. SUPERINTENDENT BRECKENRIDGE WAS THE FOUNDER AND VISIONARY OF JERUSALEM COGIC. THROUGH HIS LIFE AND HIS MINISTRY, HE PASSED ON A GREAT LEGACY TO OUR CURRENT PASTOR SUPERINTENDENT CEDRIC WILSON.

Scripture for Reflection

John 1:12 (CSB)

“But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name.”

YOU BELONG

Before God ever asks you to change, He invites you to belong. Belonging always comes before behavior in the Kingdom of God. You are not accepted because you perform well—you are accepted because you received Christ by faith.

Through Jesus, you have been given the right to become a child of God. This is not a temporary status or a fragile position. It is a secure relationship established by grace. You are no longer striving for acceptance; you are living from it.

When you know you belong, obedience becomes a loving response instead of a fearful obligation. Belonging transforms how you view failure, discipline, and growth. You trust that God is shaping you as a Father shapes His children—with patience, love, and purpose.

A Moment to Consider

How would your daily choices change if you truly lived from the assurance that you belong to God?

A Prayer of Gratitude

“Father, thank You that I belong to You—not by effort, but by grace. Help me live from that place of security. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Scripture for Reflection

2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

RIGHT WITH GOD

God did not wait for you to improve, mature, or get everything right before calling you righteous. Through Christ, a divine exchange took place: your sin was placed upon Jesus, and His righteousness was placed upon you. Christ, who knew no sin, willingly bore what did not belong to Him so that you could receive what you could never earn.

Righteousness is not a reward for good behavior; it is a gift of grace. Your identity was settled at salvation, even while your character is still being shaped through growth and obedience. God does not relate to you based on your performance but through the finished work of Christ.

You are not striving to become righteous—you already are righteous in Him. Growth flows from identity, not the other way around. When you rest in who you already are, obedience becomes a response of gratitude rather than an effort to earn approval.

A Moment to Consider

Do you live each day as though righteousness is already yours, or are you still trying to prove yourself to God?

A Prayer of Rest

“God, thank You for the righteousness You have given me in Christ. Teach my heart to rest in what You have already finished. Amen.”

Theme of the WEEK - ACCEPTED BEFORE ACTION

Scripture for Reflection

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

— Romans 5:1

SETTLED BEFORE YOU START

Before today ever begins—before decisions are made, words are spoken, or tasks are attempted—God has already settled your relationship with Him. You are not waking up to earn His approval or prove your worth. You are waking up already accepted, already justified, already at peace with God through Jesus Christ.

Righteousness is not something you achieve through effort; it is something you receive by faith. Because of Christ’s finished work, God is not standing at a distance, waiting to see how well you perform today. He has already declared peace. That peace is not fragile, temporary, or dependent on your success or failure. It is secure because it rests on Christ, not on you.

When peace is settled, striving loses its power. Obedience becomes a response rather than a requirement for acceptance. Holiness grows best not in pressure or fear, but in an atmosphere of peace and assurance. You grow because you are secure—not to become secure.

Today does not begin with pressure. It begins with peace.

A Moment to Consider

How does your perspective change when you begin the day from peace instead of pressure or performance?

A Prayer of Trust

“Father, thank You that my standing with You is secure through Jesus. Help me live today from the place of peace You have already given me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
