PhilJohn asked for a Bible. He shared that he was on a ship in 2020, depressed and suicidal. A friend told him to read the Bible. He read Mathew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” The Lord used those verses to change his life and brought him out his depression. We rejoiced in his transformation and the new friendship we established.

This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”

🎱 Seafarers enjoying our upgraded pool table! We’re thankful for generous people who see a need and step up to meet it. Volunteers from Calvary Shreveport donated a pool table, delivered it to our ministry center, and installed it! Thank you for helping us create an inviting space for seafarers to relax and have fun!

🌟 Honoring a Lifetime of Service to Louisiana’s Maritime Industry: Joseph F. Toomy has been named the 2026 recipient of the Crystal Lighthouse Award, which honors the Maritime Person of the Year. For more than five decades, Mr. Toomy has devoted himself to serving Louisiana, from the State Capitol to the Port of New Orleans. He has played a significant role in advancing the interests of our state and its maritime industry. Please join us in celebrating Mr. Toomy at the 2026 Lighthouse Gala on Thursday, September 24, at the Audubon Tea Room in New Orleans.
