Shrine Director Emerita Sr. Carolyn Marie Brockland was presented a proclamation and key to the City of New Orleans from Mayor Helena Moreno during the Ursuline Academy of New Orleans Traditions Day, which kicked off the celebration of the Academy’s 300th year of education in the United States, taking place in 2027.

The National Votive Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor shares an 11.5 acre campus with Ursuline Academy - the oldest, continuously-operating school for girls and the oldest Catholic school in the United States and Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Since 1727, the Ursuline Sisters have influenced culture in New Orleans through the education of women and instilling the value of Serviam, meaning "I will serve."
