A lawyer asks Jesus, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Luke 10:25 shows how quickly our hearts turn faith into a checklist, as if eternal life could be earned by our own effort. Jesus answers by sending the man back to God’s Word, because the Law reveals both God’s will and our need for mercy.

This Saturday's Bible verse is taken from Luke 10:25 - And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

We make plans. We schedule calendars, book meetings, write sermons (well, at least I do), plan homes, and look forward. Making plans isn’t bad. In fact, God expects us to be good stewards of our time and our responsibilities.

This Friday's Bible verse is taken from James 4:15 - Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

This morning’s Bible verse for our daily devotional, taken from Psalm 56:3, reads, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

David’s words serve as a reminder that even with unwavering faith in God, fear can still find its way into our lives. We all experience moments of such vulnerability.

Today's Bible verse is taken from Romans 4:22 - That is why (Abraham’s) faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”

As we prepare for difficult days, we often believe God is most pleased by our efforts, discipline, service, or endurance. Yet through Hosea, the Lord reminds us that He first desires mercy and the knowledge of God.

Today's Bible verse is taken from our Old Testament reading in church today, Hosea 6:6 - “For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.”
