“We celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and s*xual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social stat
us, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.”
This new expression will also meet our changing community needs in a handful of ways. 1) It will be a beacon for God’s work of Justice. God promised Abraham that his descendants would be a blessing to the world. The church is a spiritual descendant and blessing our community by not just charitably meeting immediate needs, but fighting for the justice to heal what is broken. AA currently co-facilitates an antiracism diversity learning circle. Such work will continue beyond this group and will then seek to add a financial/economic justice initiative involving community organizing and a debt-relief fund. 2) We seek to be fully LGBTQ+ affirming, welcoming a growing population that has often felt spiritually homeless due to spiritual abuse. 3) AA will continue its relief programs such as the New Meadows Food Bank, the Meadows Valley Christmas Gift Program, and temporary relief fund for those passing through. 4) Finally, AA is not merely a non-profit seeking to meet people’s needs, but is and will continue to be rooted in the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, the best revelation of God humanity could have ever imagined. This new approach will honor the legacy of the current and former members of New Meadows Methodist Church while reaching out to populations beyond our scope and joining them in their lives and the work they are doing. Vision statement: To be the hands and feet of Jesus in the West Central Mountains by:
- Being a community that embraces faithful love, seeks justice, and walks humbly with our God (Micah 6:8)
- Being a people that radically embraces and empowers all, regardless of race, s*x, orientation, nation of origin, or ability
- Being an organization that blesses our neighbors so that not just survive, but thrive
