"Jesus Calling" might be a wrong number! 😕
GASLIGHTING WITH "JESUS CALLING"
by Marcia Montenegro
The book "1984" by George Orwell, which I had to read in school, is coming true in the church. People are outright denying the truth or saying the opposite of it as they do in Orwell's book.
An article from Ministry Watch about the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) decision to investigate the book "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young states this:

What! A "literary device?" When did the author and publisher decide this?
The truth, which is not what is written in the above excerpt, is that the author herself claimed in the first edition that she sat down and listened for words from Jesus:

That is not a literary device. Young wrote she was inspired by the book "God Calling," written by two women who listened for words from God and wrote them down. Young called this non-Christian book a "treasure." Young's statement about "God Calling" and how she came to sit and listen for words from Jesus were REMOVED from the 10th Anniversary Edition.
Apparently, those invested in Jesus Calling would like to erase history and facts. Because the truth was removed from later editions, there are many now who do not know the facts and will believe this is a supposed literary device.
As for C. S. Lewis, he never claimed he was getting words from Satan. It is obvious that he was using a literary device, so the comparison is another misleading effort to make people think something that is not true.
Whether the author of the article knows the facts or not, the publisher does. So for the publisher or promoters of "Jesus Calling" who read the first edition to try to gaslight the church into thinking that this was a literary device or that Young never claimed these were words from Jesus is inexcusable.
*To see what Young wrote, go to this link for a PDF version of the Introduction to the first edition. Go to pages 6 and 7 of the PDF version (pages XI and XII of book) to see the context and the quote. The link I had to this is not working so please do a search for Original Introduction Jesus Calling Knots Better. It's on a website called Knotsbetter.com
