A few weeks ago, my son encountered a young family waiting in the dorm lobby of the camp where he works this summer. Mom, Big Sister, and Little Brother had time on their hands, so Kyle set out to entertain the siblings with various questions.
After quizzing the youngsters on their multiplication tables, Kyle asked Big Sister if she wanted to guess state capitals. She agreed.
But then Little Brother piped up, declaring that he knew the capitals, and he wanted to play, too.
Mom was doubtful, reminding him that he hadn't learned the state capitals yet.
"But I know them!" he insisted. Kyle dutifully agreed to quiz the young boy.
"Ok, what's the capital of Florida?" Kyle asked.
Full of confidence and without missing a beat, Little Brother said, "F!" 😅
I enjoyed the cute story when Kyle relayed the incident to me. But if I'm honest?
Well, I've felt like that little guy many times. Perhaps you can relate, as well.
You're sailing through your day, full of confidence, positively, 100% certain that you know the answer to the question or puzzle or predicament that confronts you.
You take action, just KNOWING you're right on track.
But you're wrong.
As it turns out, the question wasn't even the question you thought it was.
And you're left wondering what in the world happened.
The twists and turns of life are confusing, aren't they? What a comfort to know that we can always seek the wisdom of our Heavenly Father in these times.
When we don't have the answers, God does.
When we don't know which way to turn, God shows us the way.
And when we place the confusing tangles of this life into His all-powerful hands, God rearranges the jumbled threads into a tapestry of beauty.
When you don't know the answers to life's questions, turn to the One Who does.
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." (James 1:5)
