Only by the grace of God has a Mokena United Methodist Church been a loving presence in this community for over 150 years.
Our hearts ache at the thought of the doors being closed here on LaPorte Road . Yet God has paved a way for us to move forward in Hope: hand in hand with our sister church in Frankfort.
As we celebrate our final worship on Sunday , Nov. 20 at 10:30 am there will be grief; yet we will celebrate the love and blessing shared here in this building. We came together to worship our God , so that we could be filled to "let our lives be proof of God's love" outside the walls of this structure.
We've heard it so often before, that the church is not the building , the church is the people. Our congregation will not cease to exist - it will blend with those friends of ours from Frankfort UMC (whom celebrate their last service this weekend as well). Together we continue this journey of hope and faith.
On Nov. 27, we will blend our families as one with The United Methodist Church of New Lenox. By the grace of God and in God's timing , we will begin a new chapter in our books, as the three become one in Christ!
