When we pray the Our Father, we place our trust in the Father’s providence, inviting his kingdom and submitting to his will. The Lord knows and answers all our needs – physical, emotional, and spiritual. Thus, we implore him for our daily bread and his forgiveness. We invoke his protection from temptation and deliverance from evil.

Don't forget to pray every night at 8:33PM (2033 in military time) this simple prayer "May Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Come Holy Spirit, Come."
We will unify in prayer together. That all would have an opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We seek peace, but the world carries us at a break-neck pace. In a life of distraction, God desires to meet us in our inner room. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are powerful tools that allow us to surrender some of the goods of this world to God. The Lord quiets the clamor around us, speaking to our hearts in the silence of the inner room.

Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:43-48) had to have been shocking for his listeners: God makes the sun rise on the bad and the good? It can even be hard for us today to reconcile that no one is beyond the reach of God’s mercy and love. Let us allow Jesus’ words to sink into our hearts and remind us that we are all imperfect and in need of God’s healing.

It is not clear whether Naboth knew he was risking his life when he refused to sell King Ahab his ancestral land. Either way, Naboth chose to uphold the Jewish law and remain obedient to the Lord. His example reminds us that all our actions, whether weighty or trivial, can honor God. Naboth died as a witness to his faith.

The theme of God’s unending love for us, his people, runs through our readings today. Saint Paul points out that Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and Jesus’ heart was moved with pity when he saw the troubled crowd. Let us strive to imitate this great love by obeying Jesus’ instruction in the Gospel: Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.

As we contemplate the calling of Elisha, perhaps we should examine our own willingness to follow God’s call. It is unlikely that a prophet will suddenly appear and pull us away from our work, but every day, God is calling us in more subtle ways. We might be asked to help someone in need, say a kind word, or share our faith. Are we watching and ready?

As we celebrate Jesus’ incredible love for us in the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we are reminded that Jesus has chosen us as his own and takes great delight in us – praising the Father for our childlike trust. Just as God chose the people of Israel, we are also called to be a people especially God’s own.
