We are closing out shabbat with ritual, song, and community.

Kids and adults are invited to sit around the campfire, bawk at the chickens, and run through the sprinkler. Join us for ritual, crafts, and song, and stay for dinner!

Accessibility info: ritual and dinner will be held outside. Masks welcome but not mandatory. There are bathrooms onsite, but no changing table. Ample and accessible parking.

The Jewish yearcycle begins anew with our holiest observances: Yamim Noraim, or the Days of Awe. During the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the gates of the Divine are thrown wide open to fill our world with liminal possibility. Through tzedakah (justice-seeking), tefillah (sacred contemplation), and teshuvah (acknowledging and seeking repair for the ways we have “missed the mark”), we are afforded the simultaneous opportunities to go deep within and to consider the vastness beyond us. How will we remedy the harms that have already come to pass? What and who will we commit to in ways that sustain and challenge us? How will we choose to walk the narrow bridges between covenant and liberation, individual and collective, memory and imagination? The High Holidays offer us some of the most potent medicine of our tradition to move through emotion and practice hope as a discipline.

WHAT

Join Mending Minyan for Shabbat morning service! Indoor/outdoor potluck picnic to follow.

WHERE

New Haven Friend Friends Meeting - 225 E Grand Ave, New Haven, CT 06513

WHEN

Services start at 10:30 AM and will end at around noon.

KIDS 

Kids of all ages are welcome! There is a downstairs for kids play, a playground outside,  and juice boxes and snacks for kids to hang out during services with adult supervision // kids are welcome to go between the play area and services as they like :)

ACCESS

- Please refrain from wearing perfumes/scents. 

- There are single stall bathrooms via ramps.

- Masks are optional outdoors

-Room for social distancing indoors and outdoors

- No A/C indoors and can get hot 

- Masks required for ages 10 and up indoors, prayer leaders will be masked

-Masks and rapid tests available 

-Mask-optional potluck downstairs after ritual, with spaces to eat distanced/in a pod.

- Two air scrubbers will be on and windows open. 

- Please do not come if you feel sick or have a known exposure to COVID-19 or other infectious illness. We encourage you to take a COVID-19 test prior to attending.

-Ramps with railings to get in as well as elevator inside.

dor l'dor we receive the roots of building a just and safe community. the children blew the shofar ad they carried the tablets into the sanctuary. and every year we get to delve deeper and pull out meaning from these 10 commandments and add and edit. we helped each other see all the ways ethno nationalists and fascists here and abroad are breaking all of these rules.

the children are alright though and got some good ideas for us all. "make beauty wherever you can!"

thank you to everyone who came out. thank you for putting together such a sweet program.

and oh we will miss you dearly! what a gift to have you in New Haven for the past many months. You carry the spirit of Miriam- a well spring of song, healing, and spiritual nutriment. wherever you go next we know will b blessed. cant wait for you to return.

thank you for coming to New Haven and leading us in a beautiful Friday night Shabbat service and then gracing us with the incredible concert on Saturday night.

over 100 people showed up for the concert!! plus folks watching online (thank you for figuring out our live stream tech)!

we look forward to bringing you back next year after you release your album
