Thank you to Regina Miller and St. Lukes Lutheran ladies for their amazing talents and sewing of Pillowcase Dresses. In 10 years they have sewn 1,000 dresses and we have been blessed that they have shared many of those with 4KenyasKids. The girls at Point of Grace Academy in Kenya will be so excited when we deliver this next bunch of dresses to them in January 2023. Solo De Gloria

Sunday was a special day for Church at Point of Grace. Our visitor was Rev. Benjamin Lemosi the General Secretary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya, he preached on LOVE, and loving our neighbors. This was especially wonderful for all of our Maasai and Samburu children, this was like having their Maasai father to visit. Rev. Lemosi comes from their homeland and knows many of their family. He greeted and personally spoke to each of the more than 40 students from the region that he comes from.
We were also able to dedicate our new hymn boards - these will help the flow of our service - thank you to Vern and Mary Werling for their contribution and skills in making these.
We were also able to welcome 7 children and 1 adult into the kingdom of heaven through Holy Baptism.
It was indeed a day to Praise and Glorify our Lord. Rev. Lemosi stated “there is no other school in Kenya that teaches Lutheranism as well as Point of Grace.”

90 windows??
There has always been a design flaw in the school windows from day one. (2011) Enough bloody head wounds, headaches, and bruised shoulders prompted Manager Richard to ask me for a permanent fix to the windows. They need to open for ventilation during the 81 to 90 degree days that we frequently get. So we’re planning to modify them from hinged to a sliding windows with ball bearing rollers. ($150.) We can weld on some “Z” stock ($750.) then do some cut & grind to the existing frames and hopefully have enough money left in the budget to make the plan work out. I maybe looking for a late summer or fall men’s work team to come over to complete this project during school break.

The caption should read ‘short teachers use the bench.’ Haha We Finished installing the whiteboards in all classrooms at point of Grace Academy. Deaconess Lorna Meeker said that there are very few schools in Kenya with this newer technology.

Saturday we emptied out the Orphan Grain Train container of all the whiteboards while we had a multitude of helpers. We sort of staged them , some by the high school and the rest by primary school. Monday saw the primary rooms all finished in time for a Tucker’s Lite at the end of the day.

Our workshop is becoming modernized little by little. I got to demonstrate the use of the new drill press to several local guys and the head teacher. They all actually giggled with amazement at what this machine could do. There is some talk of creating a fee paying technical training center for people who want to learn a trade. Perhaps building items for sale to help defray some costs. Heavy duty wheelbarrows, entry doors, quality windows, and railings have been mentioned.

Chaplain Edwin (left) and Nicholas inspect a whiteboard delivered by Orphan Grain Train’s container. We built the stand out of some scrounged up metal. Both will be used in Pastor’s confirmation instruction classes and possibly some movie presentations. Thank you to our friends, donors, and volunteers who helped make this possible!!

Worship service in the past had 345 students bringing their offerings to one collection point. David and I built these 2 offering stands to eliminate some of the disruption to the Devine Service. Does your church have any spare old offering plates?

Yesterday Bivon a young man that we have sponsored since 2011 came to visit. He has completed his studies at technical school with a certificate in auto mechanics that he scored oeordext, also learning masonry and taking driving course so he can drive a car or truck. We are beyond proud of him. He is working enough that he can pay his own rent and needs as well as helping his mother. Jim was so happy to have brought him his own set of tools. Thanks to POG for their continued guidance to Bivon all these years - he is a good Christian young man with a bright future.
