What do you build with?

God's true temple is built with the most precious materials – not with gold, silver or marble, but with people. Then Paul says:



According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another is building on it. However, everyone must be careful how he builds on it. For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Whether anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw… (1 Corinthians 3:10-12)



There are two types of buildings you can build: buildings that pass the test and buildings that don't. You can use large amounts of wood, hay and straw when building; it is not difficult to obtain these materials in large quantities, but they will not pass the test.



…everyone's work will become public. For the day will make it clear, because it appears in fire. And what each man's work is, the fire will test. If anyone's work that he has built on the foundation endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer harm. But He Himself will be saved, yet in this way: as through fire. (verses 13-15)



In my opinion, the Bible speaks here about our contribution to the service of God's house; it must be able to withstand the test of fire. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each may receive recompense for what he has done in his body, whether good or evil. (2 Corinthians 5:10)



There will be no judgment before the judgment seat of Christ as to whether we are saved (or not), for there is no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (see Romans 8:1). It is an assessment of what we have done in the house(family) of the Lord. Everything you do to worship Him and build His house is like building with gold, silver and precious stones: materials of lasting value that withstand the test of fire. If your works do not pass the test by fire, a person may lose his reward, but his soul will still be saved.



The awarding of prizes has not yet started. That moment is still ahead of us. It is good to ask ourselves personally what type of material we put in the building. Will it pass the test by fire?

The provision is in the promises

So the first of the two important Bible truths related to bearing fruit is that God wants us to bear fruit in every good work. So the question is no longer what God's will is… The question is: how do we respond to His will?

The second truth I want to emphasize is that God has provided everything for us to bear fruit. We saw yesterday in Paul's prayer from Col.1:9-12 that God has equipped us - He has 'made us strong with might...'. He has qualified us to take our place in the inheritance of the saints in light (verse 12). This truth appears in many places in the New Testament. We also came across the following beautiful statement last week in a different context, but notice the aspect that God has fully provided:

For His divine power has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His glory and His virtue. Through this He has granted us the greatest and most precious promises, that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, after you have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Notice that opening line: His divine power. God's complete omnipotence, His limitless power, has given us everything. Let me emphasize again that God has given us everything we need, everything that pertains to life and godliness.



He provides this in two ways: first, through the knowledge of Him who called us (verse 3), that is, by knowing Jesus Christ, and second, through His greatest and precious promises (verse 4). The provision comes through knowing Jesus Christ and appropriating the promises of God's Word.

There is an expression that I cannot repeat often enough: “All that is needed is in the promises.” The promises of God's Word contain everything we will ever need in this life. You may say, “But if God has provided everything, where is it?” The answer is that it is all there in the promises of God's Word. As you apply these promises, you will discover God's provision.

Remain steadfast in righteousness

Yesterday we saw from the example of Job that the Lord sometimes allows difficulties because He wants to bring us to the place where He can reveal Himself to us. Today and tomorrow we look at two outcomes of Job's experience.

The first point is: Job remained righteous.

To begin with, in the midst of all his misery and calamity, Job held fast to his righteousness. He said:

But He knows the way I go. Let Him try me - I'll come out like gold. My foot has kept His track; His way I have kept, I have not deviated from it. The commandment of His lips I have not put away; the words of his mouth I have hid more than my allotted portion. (Job 23:10-12)

Job's so-called friends tried to convince him that he must have done something wrong, so that he deserved what happened to him. Job vehemently denied that claim. God himself testified of Job's righteousness even before Job's troubles began: For there is none like him in the earth, a devout and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil (Job 1:8). And also after Job had lost everything, God said: For there is none in the earth like Job, a devout and upright man, fearing God, and turning away from evil. He still clings to his piety, though you have incited Me against him to devour him without cause. (Job 2:3)

When all was finally over, when even Satan had been allowed to do anything to Job except take his life, the Lord testifies of this to him:

After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, it came about that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My anger is kindled against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken rightly of me, as My servant Job has done. Therefore take for yourself seven young bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job. Make burnt offerings for you and let My servant Job pray for you. For only his prayer will I receive, lest I deal with you according to your folly; for you have not spoken rightly of Me, as My servant Job did. (Job 42:7-8)

After all that had happened to him, the Lord still said that Job was perfectly righteous. But to Job's friends, God was saying, in essence, "You religious hypocrites, with all your religious talk! You must repent!” Of Job himself, however, God did not require repentance. On the contrary, He testified that Job was righteous.

It is also one of the most difficult things in our lives to continue to believe in God and to keep trusting in God despite great difficulties and incredibly heavy satanic opposition. Yet Job is an example and inspiration to us in this. It has to do with a rock-steady attitude in which we always, through everything and regardless of the circumstance, give God the honor that is due to Him as the God of heaven and earth and the Lord of our lives

Rotsvast blijven in rechtvaardigheid

Gisteren zagen we vanuit het voorbeeld van Job dat de Heer soms moeilijkheden toestaat omdat Hij ons wil brengen op de plaats waar Hij Zichzelf aan ons kan openbaren. Vandaag en morgen kijken we naar twee resultaten van Jobs ervaringen.

Het eerste punt is: Job bleef rechtvaardig.

Om te beginnen hield Job, midden in al zijn ellende en rampspoed, zijn rechtvaardigheid vast. Hij zei:

Maar Hij kent de weg die ik ga. Laat Hij mij beproeven – ik zal eruit komen als goud. Mijn voet heeft zich aan Zijn spoor gehouden; aan Zijn weg heb ik mij gehouden, ik ben er niet van afgeweken. Het gebod van Zijn lippen heb ik niet weggedaan; de woorden van Zijn mond heb ik verborgen, meer dan het mij toegewezen deel. (Job 23:10-12)

Jobs zogenaamde vrienden probeerden hem te overtuigen dat hij toch iets verkeerds moest hebben gedaan, dus dat hij verdiende wat hem overkwam. Job ontkende die bewering met klem. God zelf getuigde van Jobs rechtvaardigheid, zelfs al voordat Jobs problemen begonnen: Want er is niemand op de aarde zoals hij, een vroom en oprecht man, hij is godvrezend en keert zich af van het kwaad (Job 1:8). En ook nadat Job alles verloren had zei God: Want er is niemand op de aarde zoals Job, een vroom en oprecht man, hij is godvrezend en keert zich af van het kwaad. Hij houdt nog steeds vast aan zijn vroomheid, hoewel u Mij tegen hem opgezet hebt om hem zonder reden te verslinden. (Job 2:3)

Toen uiteindelijk alles achter de rug was, toen satan zelfs toestemming had gekregen om Job alles aan te doen behalve het nemen van zijn leven, getuigt de Heer dit van hem:

Nadat de HEERE deze woorden tot Job gesproken had, gebeurde het dat de HEERE tegen Elifaz, de Temaniet, zei: Mijn toorn is ontbrand tegen u en tegen uw twee vrienden, want u hebt niet juist over Mij gesproken, zoals Mijn dienaar Job. Neem daarom zeven jonge stieren en zeven rammen voor u, en ga naar Mijn dienaar Job. Breng brandoffers voor u en laat Mijn dienaar Job voor u bidden. Want alleen zijn gebed zal Ik aannemen, zodat Ik met u niet doe naar uw dwaasheid; want u hebt niet juist over Mij gesproken, zoals Mijn dienaar Job. (Job 42:7-8)

Na alles wat er met hem gebeurd was, zei de Heer nog steeds dat Job volkomen rechtvaardig was. Maar tegen Jobs vrienden zei God in wezen: ‘’Jullie godsdienstige hypocrieten, met al jullie religieuze praat! Je moet je bekeren!’’ Van Job zelf eiste God echter geen bekering. Integendeel, Hij getuigde dat Job rechtvaardig was.

Om ondanks grote moeilijkheden en onwaarschijnlijk zware satanische tegenwerking rotsvast in God te blijven geloven en op Hem te blijven vertrouwen, is ook in ons leven één van de moeilijkste dingen. Toch is Job ons hierin tot voorbeeld en inspiratie. Het heeft te maken met een rotsvaste houding waarin we God altijd, dwars door alles heen en zonder te kijken op de omstandigheid, de eer geven die Hem toekomt als de God van hemel en aarde en de Heer van ons leven

El es un Dios santo

Ayer comenzamos a leer las escrituras del Antiguo Testamento sobre la santidad. Hoy pasamos al último capítulo del libro de Josué. Después de que el pueblo de Dios entra en su herencia, la Tierra Prometida, Josué los desafía (ver Josué 24:15), diciendo, en efecto, ¿A quién servirán, ahora que han venido a nuestra tierra? Él dijo: “Elige hoy a quién vas a servir. Puedes servir a los dioses a los que sirvieron tus padres al otro lado del río Éufrates en Mesopotamia. O puedes servir a los dioses de los amorreos, en cuya tierra habitas ahora. O puedes servir al Dios vivo y verdadero, el Señor”. Entonces el pueblo dijo que serviría al Señor.

Entonces el pueblo respondió y dijo: No es que dejemos al SEÑOR para servir a otros dioses. (Josué 24:16)

Luego la gente cantó sobre la grandeza de Dios, sus victorias y sus bendiciones. A su vez, a Joshua se le ocurrió una respuesta muy notable:

No podréis servir al SEÑOR, porque Él es un Dios santo, Él es un Dios celoso. Él no perdonará tu transgresión y tus pecados. (Josué 24:19)

Anteriormente dije que Dios no está buscando voluntarios. Esto es exactamente lo que quise decir con esa declaración. Muchas personas en la Iglesia hoy en día dicen: “Creo que quiero servir al Señor. Me pregunto si Dios tiene un trabajo para mí”. Mientras sigas acercándote a Dios Todopoderoso con esa actitud, no entrarás en contacto con Él. Desafortunadamente, muchos cristianos hoy en día parecen pensar inconscientemente que Dios debería alegrarse de haber recibido sus servicios cuando fueron salvos. Dios ve eso de manera muy diferente.

Sé de lo que estoy hablando. Durante un tiempo yo mismo viví con esa actitud, porque había tenido bastante éxito en mi mundo. Pero años después comencé a ver que la historia es muy diferente. El Señor asumió un gran riesgo y una gran responsabilidad cuando me tomó a mí. No puedes simplemente acercarte a Él y decir: "Señor, creo que voy a servirte". Entonces Dios dice: “No puedes. No eres apto para eso. No estás calificado para eso. Fracasarás y entonces estarás peor que antes”.

Debemos tener esto en cuenta. Antes de ofrecer nuestros servicios a Dios, es mejor que consideremos a qué tipo de Dios servimos. Él es un Dios santo, un Dios glorioso y asombroso. No podemos simplemente perder el tiempo en Su servicio. No se trata de jugar pequeños juegos religiosos. No se trata de ir a la iglesia de vez en cuando, cuando nos conviene. Si nuestra devoción no es completa, es de muy poco valor.

Deze mensen die Jezuschristus hebben aanvaard,die nu broeders zijn ,maar toch nog hun straf moeten uitzitten,hebben het hard te verduren in de gevangenisen van zuid america en andere onderontwikkelde landen,gebed word gevraagd maar ook de noodzaak voor hun hygiene en medical nood,graag een hande toesteken aub ,het zijn mensen waar ook nu Jezuschristus in woont.

Geestelijke vrucht,komt uit het geestelijke, maar hoe zien we dat het vlees van een mens die niet herboren is met de kracht van de Heilige Geest maar nog steeds de zonde ,duivels, religiueze ,onreine geest bezitten, de kerken zitten er vol van, maar ze werken ook op een goed gecamoufleerde uitzicht, ze proberen goeie gelovigen te zijn ,door HUN WERKEN, ja ik heb al veel religiueze groepen zien dingen doen ,MAAR NIET DOOR GOD GEVRAAGD, je ziet deze mensen (SCHIJN HEILIGEN)zich zelf promoten om gezien te worden, om zo erkend te worden als een GOEIE christenen,

Al hun werken doen zij om in het oog te lopen bij de mensen, want zij maken hun gebedsriemen breed en hun kwasten groot, zij houden van de eerste plaats bij de maaltijden en van de erezetels in de synagogen, En gij zult op aarde niemand uw vader noemen, want één is uw Vader, Hij, die in de hemelen is. Laat u ook geen leidslieden noemen, want één is uw Leidsman, de Christus. Al wie zichzelf zal verhogen, zal vernederd worden en al wie zichzelf zal vernederen, zal verhoogd worden.

Aanbidding is de daad waarmee we met de Heer verbonden worden tot één geest. Daarom is aanbidding de hoogste daad waar een mens toe in staat is. Als we in een leven van aanbidding met de Heer verbonden zijn, dan beginnen we de daden en dingen voort te brengen die Hij wil.
Aanbidding is geen toetje voor het leven als christen, geen extraatje voor een fijne ervaring in de wekelijkse kerkdienst. Aanbidding is het ware leven zélf; het is het hoogtepunt; de bevestiging van onze liefdesrelatie met Hem. Zonder iemand aanstoot te willen geven; aanbidding is als het ware de liefdesgemeenschap in ons huwelijk met de Heer. We zijn met Hem verbonden tot één geest, en als we die huwelijkseenheid beleven, heeft dat altijd voortplanting als doel. Door geestelijke gemeenschap komt geestelijke vrucht voort uit ons leven.
Vanzelfsprekend moet je de identiteit kennen van de echtgenoot met wie je één geworden bent. Paulus schrijft in Galaten 5:19-21: Het is bekend wat de werken van het vlees zijn, namelijk ​overspel, ​hoererij, ​onreinheid, losbandigheid, afgoderij, toverij, vijandschappen, ruzie, afgunst, woede-uitbarstingen, egoïsme, onenigheid, afwijkingen in de leer, jaloersheid, ​moord, dronkenschap, zwelgpartijen, en dergelijke; waarvan ik u voorzeg, zoals ik ook al eerder gezegd heb, dat wie zulke dingen doen, het ​Koninkrijk van God​ niet zullen beërven. De werken van het vlees zijn overduidelijk herkenbaar. Je kunt mensen vertellen dat je geestelijk bent, maar als je vleselijk bent, dan is dat aan alle kanten te zien. Denk hier eens over na: zou jij willen dat je kinderen zich gedragen zoals Paulus hier schrijft? Dat is namelijk wat het vlees voortbrengt. Er staat in deze lijst niets wat goed is. Het vlees kan niets voortbrengen wat voor God aanvaardbaar is. Het is verdorven. Jezus zei dat een 'slechte' boom geen goede vruchten kan dragen (zie Mattheüs 7:18). Dat is onmogelijk. Daarom moeten we waakzaam zijn en de werken van het vlees herkennen, om daartegenover vanuit onze gemeenschap met God geestelijke vrucht voort te brengen
