For the Love of Faith: Sports & Arts Camps

What a wonderful time we had at our two For the Love of Faith one-day camps! The kiddos explored how faith can guide and inspire us through both sports and the arts.

At our Faith and Sports Camp, campers practiced soccer, running relays, basketball, golf, and fishing while learning how faith leads the way in sports. Teen athletes shared how faith influences their sports lives, sportsmanship, teamwork, and more. The children even discovered how altar serving connects with coordination and teamwork. The morning began with a prayerful reflection led by Fr. Matt.

At our Faith and Arts Camp, the morning began with prayer and a discussion about using art to pray through Visio Divina and Lectio Divina. The children explored the artwork throughout our church, including the stained-glass windows, Stations of the Cross, Divine Mercy image, and choir loft. They painted love-themed cookies, opened their voices through poetry, and had the opportunity to meet a published poet.

Thank you to all the children who joined us and to everyone who helped make these camps so special! We are especially grateful to our wonderful teen helpers, athletes, Rick Bach, Sue Cavo, and Fr. Matt.

A special thank you to Jessica from Love and Cupcakes for donating her time to work with the children, and to our guest poetry speakers, Bella Stephens and Allen Wilcox.

We are grateful for the fun, faith, creativity, teamwork, and memories shared at both camps!

Recent Beautification at St. John’s

We are grateful for the recent work that has helped beautify the outside of our church and highlight the rich history of our parish. The beautiful statue of Jesus from St. Thomas Church has now been placed in front of St. John’s, where it offers a welcoming sign of faith to all who arrive.

Another meaningful improvement has been the relocation of the cornerstone of the original St. John’s Church, dating back to 1883. Once buried in overgrown bushes at the back of the church, it can now be seen next to the flagpole near the entrance between the church and rectory.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to M.C. Creations for their assistance in removing the overgrown bushes, leveling the area, and planting new grass. In addition, parishioner Marie Pitarresi planted all of the flowers in front of the church, which were generously provided by St. John’s Men’s Club.

These improvements not only enhance the beauty of our church grounds, but also remind us of the pride we share in our parish and its enduring legacy.

St. John's Men's Club – Join Us on Sunday, August 23rd at 6:00 PM!

We're excited to share that there's a renewed effort to grow and revitalize our St. John's Men's Club! This is a wonderful opportunity to build a vibrant community of fellowship, faith, and service among the men of our parish.

We are holding a meeting on Sunday, August 23rd at 6:00 PM in the Hayes Room to discuss plans and ideas for moving forward. Whether you've been involved before or are interested in joining for the first time, we strongly encourage all men of the parish to attend. Your presence and input will help shape the future of this important ministry.

Update on Offering Envelopes

We wanted to reach out with an update about our offering envelopes. Unfortunately, our current delivery has been delayed, and the envelopes are being mailed at the end of this week—which means they won't arrive in time for this weekend's Masses. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

After experiencing ongoing production delays, we've made the decision to partner with a new provider, The Church – Budget Envelope & Mailing Co., who we're confident will provide more reliable service. Our current batch of envelopes will run through October 4th, and our new partner will take over beginning with the October 11th mailing.

The good news: Your envelope ID numbers will remain exactly the same, and mailings will continue on the same schedule—every two months.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued generosity to our parish community.
