In Memory of Raymond W. "Ray" Staub, Jr.
1941 - 2026

Raymond W. Staub Jr., 84, passed away on March 25. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, on July 17, 1941, he lived in Yardville, Hamilton Township, for 56 years before moving to New Egypt in 1997, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Raymond attended Holy Angels School and was a member of Hamilton High School West’s Class of 1960. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS MacDonough (DLG-8) during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam era. In September 1964, he entered the 66th training class of the New Jersey State Police. Upon graduating, he was sworn in as a State Trooper in January 1965. He served with distinction until his retirement as a Lieutenant on September 1, 1991.

A devoted man of faith, Raymond served as a Deacon in the Catholic Church, ministering to parishioners at St. Raphael’s in Hamilton Township and at the Church of the Assumption/St. Isidore the Farmer Parish in New Egypt. He was a past president of the Yardville Civic Club and Jensen’s Community Club, and a member of the State Police Former Troopers Association. He was also a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 10,900 and a Fourth Degree Knight.

On November 13, 1965, Raymond married the love of his life, Joyce, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they cherished traveling with family, often with their trailer in tow. Cape May was his special place, where he found peace and spent summers relaxing on the beach. He enjoyed golfing with friends and family, especially with his brother Tom, with whom he shared countless laughs and memories. Raymond had a gift for connecting with people no matter where he went; whether in Vermont, Florida, or close to home, he always seemed to run into someone he knew.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Raymond W. Staub Sr. and Agnes Radoczy; his brother, Tom; and his beloved wife, Joyce, who passed away on March 18, 2020.

He is survived by his sons, Philip; Joseph and his wife, Diane; and Michael and his wife, Kathleen; as well as his three cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Kylie, and Katelyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to St. Isidore the Farmer Food Bank.

All arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home located in New Egypt, NJ.
